Might be a new building but same old sourpuss owners. Was also hoping the food would be better.

We went there last Saturday evening. We were seated, then waited 55 minutes to be served our dinners. Others were waiting long times, as well. We were told they were out of Angel Hair pasta. An Italian restaurant out of pasta? Next food selection was good, it was VERY noisy in there .... seems there is nothing there to absorb all the sounds. Mrs Owner was at the desk when we left, nothing was said.

Graybeard I was also there Saturday night and waited at least that long before our dinner was served. When it was finally brought to our table to be honest it wasn't very good or maybe I was expecting to much. Probably won't be going back and yes you're correct Mrs. Owner didn't say anything but that is probably for the best even though a thank you would have been nice.

Bride and I were in last Thursday..Greeted by Ms Owner..Food, prepared by order and not in a buffet in the back, came in normal time tho it was crowded.
Food was well prepared, presented and tasty. I say give 'em a little time to get the kinks out..If you cant wait why doncha go on back to Long Horn where the food sucks, is over priced and every ones children are screaming. Oh yeah, ya get to wait 30 to 45 minutes to get seated.

Jrt glad you got good food and service but they have been ib business a long time no need to work the kinks out. everyone has their own opinion and yours is a good one just wish i could say the same.

Charlies has always provided good food and service, actually I would say it us best overall in Ellijay. Although I respect your opinions and reviews try not to ruin a good restuarant here or we will all be lined up in the drive thrus as our only option.

Give it another try we are spoiled with fast service here because none of the other restaurants in town are ever busy to begin with! If you font like it the and like uranium drive south to Provinos in Canton wait 45 minutes for your food then pay twice what it's worth and complain all the way back to Ellijay about why we don't have any good restaurants here!

I haven't ate at the new one yet, but always enjoyed it before. The are always painfully slow, I don't think I have ever eaten there and got my food in under 30 minutes, even when it wasn't busy. This has always been dinner too, as I'm sure they are slower then anyways. Usually though we are with friends or parents, so it doesn't seem as bad. I have to say the owners do act a little pissy, and that bothers me more than anything else.

To each his (or her) own. We haven't eaten at the new location yet -- didn't know they were open -- but our experience at the old place was always good. Maybe it's because we were there frequently, but we have always been greeted by name, both coming and going, and Charlie often stopped by our table to say hello. We've never had a bad meal, and we've tried most of the menu. Preparation time is sometimes a bit long, but I think that they're preparing almost everything from scratch. As for "kinks", sure, they've been in business for quite a while, but this is a new place, with new equipment, etc., and it'll probably take some getting used to. I agree 100% with geez.

I've always liked the food at Charlie's.However, the lady owner needs some lessons in our good ole "Southern Hospitality' and wearing a positive face to her customers and her wait staff too.I want them to be successful at their new location.

Ok now that Charlie has quit writing his on blogs maybe the real people will tell of their experiences. I have had good and bad experiences with Charlies nothing so good to brag about and also no experience to just really dog them. The lady could be friendlier though and say thanks.

I wasn't impressed with the service or new place.I don't think the food was as good as old place.I think I will pass on Charlie's for a while.

i was there on tuesday night before they opened on wednesday, me and about 150 other people. seems that the word got out and many people showed up that were not invited for the grease the kitchen night. i went to the old place of business on a regular basis. i noticed people on that tuesday that i had not seen before in their resturant. charlie had invited people and i guess they invited people. IT WAS FREE and many items to choose from. they do have a new computer system, where the wait staff and the kitchen are tyed together. granted it should work better maybe soon. they do have alot of new people working there. I'm sure they will come together soon. collette is charlie's wife and is very nice and always speaks to us. while they were closed i tried a couple of resturants, they were SLOW, the staff never thanks us for coming or even asked us to come back. bet they liked charlies being closed. it's a better place, in a better place with new items to choose from.

I decided to see if all of the negative posts were right and went to Charlies last night. My wife and I were pleasantly greeted with a smile. Seated quickly and waited on as quick.

Food was as good ad usually is and took the amount of time as expected for a quality made to order restaurant. As for the pricing I look at it this way on Monday I ate at Longhorn and got a Chicken Salad and my wife ordered the Firecracker appetizer plate, my cost including ice tea & tip was right at $32.00.

At Charlies I ordered Chicken Pasta, wife ordered Chicken Marsala, we got tea, salads with our meal. Cost including tip was $37.00.

I agree with Doc. Charlie's is trying to deal with new equipment, new floor plan, and they make everything from scratch. Be patient, they will find their groove and they will improve their timing. I know Collette is extremely detail oriented and is thinking about 25 things at once, which might come across as being a little distant to customers who don't know her well.

Charlie is a fabulous cook and everything I have ever eaten there has been very good (not 5-star superior, but very good and worth the price charged). His pizza is the best in the North Georgia Mountains.

Having said that, I must say that after eating there at least once a week for 5 or 6 years, the last time we were there was on a Thursday night around dinner time. There were maybe 20 people in the restaurant, most of which were locals that the owners knew well. Midway through our dinner Charlie and Collette came out to the dining room and sat for a while with a family at a table in the back. But what bothered me a little is that neither of them took the time to even say hello to the rest of the patrons in that dining area when they left. A little eye contact, a smile at least, or a wave and "hello" would have been appropriate in my opinion.

I've eaten at Charlies two or three times and its nothing special in my opinion. Its ok but for the prices they charge it should be better. The spaghetti at Papa's is just as good as Charlies and its on a buffet.
