I agree Mucho Kaliente's is the best. Very authentic. For Chinese Tin Loong it's very good and the owner is very nice.
The place I would avoid is Charlie's. I went there some time ago and the food was terrible. Then I thought well maybe it was just an off day so I went back last week. The food completely lacked any flavor. I will say the caesar salad was good though.

There are several good places to eat in Ellijay. Canturbury on the square in Ellijay is excellent, Longhorn steak house in the walmart plaza s another good choice. Best thing to do is ride around the area and try different places.

Canterbury is the absolute best. His soups are to die for. Very reasonable, too.

We're getting a Shane's Rib Shack, and I've heard it's excellent. Too bad the owner didn't also bring Moe's Southwest Grill, along with it, as he has in Canton!!
For non-buffet Chinese? Try Happy Family II. It's located in the Clock Tower Shopping Center on Maddox Drive, in the right rear corner. It's excellent, big portions and reasonably priced.
I'm not that crazy about Mexican, but Mucho Kaliente's IS excellent. To me, it was better than El Rey's and much more reasonable.
I also ate at Charlie's, and it was good, at that time, but the prices (lower now), were prohibitive for a family of 3 on a modest budget with two growing (big eating!) boys!! LOL

For homestyle "country" cookin, I suggest either White Columns, The Davis House, or Sue's Country Cabin. All offer fresh meat/vegetable lunch plates and are quite reasonable.

Not much here in Ellijay! The Mexican food places are horrible and unless you like the typical chain food restaurants you are pretty much out of luck. Best off going to Jasper, you might try LAST CATCH. The best seafood and steaks in the area.

I ate there last night and was very dissapointed. They only thing I enjoyed was the asparagus. The bread stick were hard as a rock and the steak was to spicy as was the mushrooms.

I hate to hear that. I ate there Friday night and had the salmon special with pesto and it was delicious. I hope that you give them another try. I have been there about 6 times and all our meals were great. I hope that your experience was just an "off" night for them. It is hard to find good restaurants.

I'm with you on that one. It has been delicious every single time we have been there, and that is alot. The wait staff and the chefs are very friendly. The sushi is the best, overall, that I have eaten.

Not everyone likes our Au Poirve sauce, which is very spicy. We have many, many ways we do steak though, from plain grilled, tarragon butter, mushrooms and onions, etc. There's only one spicy one, and it IS fiery.

Stop by and try us again. We've been full most weekend nights, and are developing a real following of regular customers.

If you don't like, ask for me and I'll fix it for you.

I think Cantebury in downtown Ellijay is excellent!
