I posted this back in July in the thread "Unintended Consequences" and think it bears repeating based on some of the latest DOJ actions:

Stay tuned for latest DOJ lawsuit under this new act!
Im all for accommodations for anyone with a handicap or diability but I think this is just one loop for places to make sure they do not get sued in the future. If one person feels slighted and can make a claim of discrimination it could be costly.

Writing a law that compels businesses to make changes that are totally assine and ridiculous does not prevent a business from being sued for discrimination. All it does it give many more people an opportunity to see the little mom and pops or even the big businesses because some stupid little law wasn't complied with. WE DO NOT NEED MORE REGULATIONS FOR ANYTHING! We have enough stuff on the books to take care of many generations. We should take a break for 10 or 15 years.

Running a business nowadays is an invitation to be sued by customers, or punished by the government.

This does not bode well for jobs.

I have a couple hundred stories that I could finish that sentence with.
I'll tell one.
A guy, somewhat in my family circle, worked for GM. He was around 30 yr. old.
On a wintery Saturday, he slipped and fell in front of his house, and hurt his back very bad. Very common thing up north. Who hasn't fallen? Except me, because I'm very graceful.

He resisted going to the doctor until Monday, when he could get out of his car at the factory and 'fall.'

So he fell, and got himself a free union attorney to handle his case. What he wanted, was also a very common thing. He wanted the buy out. The large chunk of money that so many get up there and the pension that comes with it, till death. A much prettier package that the disability check.
And there is no reason to ever work again.

I don't know how his case turned out. I moved during this but I'd wager he won. They always won.

And that my friend is why in large cities when a city bus is involved in a minor accident they lock the doors until the driver can take everyone's name and address. This is after several cities were sued by "passengers". You see, they finally got wise, kind of hard to have 37 claims for injury when the total passengers on the bus at the time of the incident was 6. What they would do is have a car stop suddenly in front of the bus causing the "fender bender" and then someone on the bus would open the rear door and 20 or 30 of their closest friends would scramble on. All would have serious neck and back injury claims.

Welcome to America. The land of the lawyer and "justice" system.

P.S. Some towns in Florida have hundreds of "retired on disability" former GM workers. Almost impossible to get a tee time in those areas early in the morning because of all the "disabled" GM worker golf foursomes! I almost blame the lawyers as much as the crooked selfish greedy employees.

:O
Now I've heard enough to ruin my perfect day!(It's Autumn you know!)

We're going to Hell in a handbasket.
We are the Fall of Rome.

And I'm not one bit surprised about those Florida disabled.
I don't have enough fingers, toes or eyelashes, to count the people I knew/know, that retired 'disabled' in their 20's and 30's. With huge cash awards on top of lifetime checks.

Oh, I have carpal tunnel.
Oh, I have back problems.
Oh, I have a sliver.

And the truly disabled get a bad rap.
