Yes these people live and work in Ellijay and hire local people as writers etc. Personally, I don't think I have ever seen anyone work as hard as Mr. FetchYour News does. He is at every BOE, BOC and political function and still videos every baseball, basketball, football and soccer game.

I am very impressed with them! They work hard to tell it like it is without the local influences telling em how to say it!

FetchYourNews is not a real news agency, just more North Georgia gossip. Don't even waste your time with this company or the local newspaper neither are worth your time.

All news or reporting agencies are selective. They have to be. Either they pander to one group of people or they report on what their bosses allow them to.

Half right, Half wrong! Fetchyournews provides a valuable service by reporting on issues the local paper won't touch. Gilmer needs a media outlet such as Fetchyournews and would become a far better informed community if a second newspaper, one dedicated to the purity and time honored tradition of non-biased journalism set up shop in Ellijay.

Good job FYN and remember to send the Publisher and Editor of TC a Christmas card. Their lack of putting forth all the facts is why you are doing so well.

Exactly what facts may I ask, does the TC not put forth? I'm not saying they do or don't but I would like a few good examples.

Courier handles BOC and BOE with kid gloves since a large portion of their revenue comes from them with legal announcements, bids etc.,etc.

I would like to see one thing added to "Fetch." How about a column (with pictures) of those who have been found not guilty or had the charges dropped. What's good for the goose...yadah yadah. If you happen to agree, let them know, they seem reasonably receptive to publc input.

The Times Courier is the only possible choice for county legal organ. Gilmer has no other options. The TC handles everything with kid gloves not out of necessity but out of choice. Gilmer would do well to have another newspaper option. However, the sound off part is quite entertaining at times and makes it worth the 50 cents:)

The Sound Off is controlled by one person who writes most of the entries himself and ignores others actually submitted that do not agree with his particular agenda.

I believe there was a 2nd newspaper that was
started up in the 1970's.

Does anyone remember who, what, or when?

I do remember the paper, it started in the late '70's. I can't remember the details, though. I don't think it lasted very long.

The Sound Off is not controlled by only one person nor does any staff member write the entries.
