November 6, or Election Night, I was sitting outside late in the freezing cold wrapped in a quilt with a *gun to my head.
In the not too far distance, extremely not too far distance, I listened for about 10 minutes to unhuman-type screams.
I just sat there listening, knowing what I was hearing was a cat or cats. Not regular cats either.
So this is my contribution to the Panther stories. It or they had to be the Panther. Normally I would have been terrified, but you know, the election thingy. Overroad all.

*Not really, but felt like it.
There is counseling for that, you should consider speaking to a professional.

I though all these stories that old timers told about "painters" were a bunch of bull. That is until about 4 years ago. I was standing outside my home in Ellijay when I got that hair stand up on the back of your neck feeling. I turned to find a mountain lion, panther, whatever you want to call it in the woods about 25 yards away. No mistaking it for a bobcat. While the DNR does not believe my story, there was no mistaking what I saw. Scared the crap out of me!
Don't care what people believe....I'm from south MS, born, raised, moved all over the south, hunted, fished, killed, maimed everything...then I saw a 'mountain lion' while driving on 158 about 3 miles West of Saraland, AL Sunday afternoon. Standing on riff-raft embankment plain as day. LARGE cat, brown, black nose, white ring around nose, tail about as long as body, approximately 2-3x bigger than the biggest bobcat I've seen....by the time I slowed down, turned around, and drove back to get pic, it was gone.

I saw something that looked like a tan panther on wares ferry rd about a mile northwest of the railroad track near the prison, looked to be around 100 pounds, it was about 75 feet away stopped at the tree line and looked right at me.

The neighbor across the street from us swears he saw a very large cougar type cat on his back porch a couple of weeks ago. He has a workshop in his garage and was out there very early in the morning when he spotted it. We live in the mountains just off 431 near Carlisle Elementary school. My husband has 10 acres which his kids also live on. He was down at his son's house which has woods on one side and back of the house. One evening he says he heard a rustling sound and saw the top of a big tree shaking violently like there was something very big in it but he never saw what it was. We also used to have a lot of deer and rabbits around our house...haven't seen any of late. We have 2 small dogs and one large dog who many mornings (1:30-3 am) have to go out to do their business. Our area is rather rural and creepy. I've been outside with the dogs during the early hrs of morning and heard some pretty weird animal sounds...including some nearby low growls.

A gentleman who lives in Marshall County, AL which is just over the line out west I-20 caught a photo last night on his hunting camera he had set out about 1/4 mile from his house to watch for deer activity. Last night, he caught the distinct photograph of a mountain lion/panther. I saw the photo and there is no mistaking. It is not a bobcat or dog or anything else but a panther. I knew that some which Florida had release had gone up into south Alabama but I thought they had rounded all those up.

Also, a friend who pastors a church over near Albertville in AL also builds houses and he saw one cross the 431.

Have any been sited here in the mountains? I know the wildlife folks in AL claim there are none in Alabama, which there is proof now there is, but I'm wondering if there are some here too.

Has anyone heard of anyone seeing any?
Yes I have less than three years ago on I-85 mile marker 9 miles outside of Montgomery Alabama a grungy-looking mountain lion crossed the road from east to west and it was not a house cat. 25 years semi truck driver, first time sighting.

I was driving down Slygo Road in Dade County GA a couple of months ago about 1am & one crossed the road in front of me. It pounced up an embankment then disappeared into the woods.
