The movies that moved us
You've got to hand it to the Silver Screen: Those flickering movies, especially when seen with a crowd of fellow filmgoers, not only have a way of beating one's cabin fever blues; they also - as happened in the 1930s Golden Era of cinema - do well by those in need of forgetting at least some of their economic worries.

Credit for this film series should go to Ray Faiola, an avid collector of actual 16 mm films as well as posters, photos, and artifacts related to films. Ray, who handles customer relations for CBS, is a walking encyclopedia of film lore, and has produced cd compilations of classic film scores. For a few years he has offered similar screenings at his private theater in Ellenville, and has decided to broaden the concept to the Shadowland and Ellenville Library, so more can enjoy these classic features and shorts. Ray is also on the Board of the Shadowland Theatre, and is Grand Sheik of Ellenville's "Them Thar Hills" tent of the "Sons of the Desert," the Laurel & Hardy appreciation society.

I just posted abou tthe movie theater in Monticello closing and Shadowland being an alternative. You mention a cooperative b/w the library and Shadowland for oldies movies. Any more news about this? How about new movies? Do you think Shadowland would sully its theat-ah with commercial flicks?:) If yes, sign me up for a season pass!
