Monticello has serious problems w/ rats in thier WalMart, "Because of the dry winter, and dried-up creek nearby." What makes you think this "won't" happen in Napanoch w/ a dried-up field across Rt. 209? Also.., they've been cited "FOUR TIMES" and yet they remain open > Go Fiqure! The last thing left in this world will be a Cockaroach & a WalMart! GOOD LUCK NAPANOCH.., froma former longtime resident!

They're not the only business with disgusting conditions. Shop rite in Ellenville is filthy. Along with other town stores. Ellenville inspectors cover up alot . They look the other way. Let's talk land lords. SLUM LORDS in Ellenville. The inspections are bogus. They walk in and walk out not paying attention to So many violations .Who's greasing their palms? This town is so crooked. All the politicians and the police chief ,judge, and asst. DA need to be replaced. They all wash each others hands. It's the old story of "Who you know" If you don't know any of them personally or are a friend of their friends, you don't stand a chance. Dirty Crooked town!

You make plenty of harsh accusations, but where is the evidence? I shop at ShopRite regularly; I think I'd recognize "filthy" when I see it, and I don't see it there. What do you know about local inspectors? Are you on the receiving end? Do you have specific evidence of cover ups? Do you mean YOU personally know of violations that are not being acted on? Why haven't you gone to higher authorities, or the media? What evidence do you have of "greased palms"? I'm not saying it isn't possible, but you need more than mere accusations to get justice done. What is the basis for your claims? Personal knowledge from inside? Hearsay? Rumor? Gossip? Yes, it's very easy to make broad and bold charges from behind an anonymous wall!

Oh, and how does that address the very well documented problems with the aforementioned Walmart? Doesn't make them any less egregious, or go away, does it?

You're absolutely correct, Yes I will soon be addressing my accusations to higher authorities. I'M NOT going to put myself in the public eye on a board, however, I thought these forums were for people to say what they feel. Sure I have proof of my accusations.Go sit through a few evenings of Tuesday court. Watch and listen. As for greased palmes, I foolishly assume that being the case since I lived in an apartment that was in very much need of land lord concern. Yet when it was inspected, none of the violations were addressed. I no longer live there OR in the confused once beautiful town of Ellenville. Yet I care since I have family there. Yes, ShopRite can use a cleaning.I'm sorry sir if I upset you. Not looking to target anyone but those who claim to help the town people and don't. The towns tax payers pay their salary,so they should do their job right.

I'm not upset, but having been on the receiving end of incorrect and wild accusations against myself, I just want to emphasize that it is important to be able to back up claims with more than suspicions or assumptions.

Sure, anyone, especially public officials, should be held accountable, and if there IS provable instances of malfeasance, then they deserve to have the book thrown at them. Be aware, however, that things are not always as YOU might see them, and what might SEEM to be a violation, may not technically or legally be one, and often the supposed violator has rights and extensions that you may not know about before they become liable under the law.

That being said, good luck with your involving higher authorities; just be sure you approach the right ones, and that you have more than mere rumors to give them.

(When I served on the Ellenville Village Board, locals kept making accusations about the then village manager, and they seemed plausible; but I told them that unless they could hand me a smoking gun document or give enough details to make a case, there was nothing *I* could take to a proper authority like a DA or attorney general. And, as was always the case, nobody would ever come forward with something I could use, or identify themselves and go on record, so there was no way to proceed on rumors and innuendo alone.)
