It seems that every gas tax we had imposed on us was for better roads and bridges. What's to prevent this one from ending up in the general fund when the electoric puts someone else in office that promises to cut taxes. The money to run the government has to come from some place.

Minnesota is one of the most taxed states in the country. The DOT needs to be overhauled. Get rid of the "good old boys."
An increase in the gas tax will not help the before mentioned roads for quite some time. Instead the money will go to the metro area for mass tfansit. It's time for ouf local senator and representative to start repfesenative to serve their constituents instead of the "good old boys" in St.Paul.

With the proposed gas tax maybe more people would commute using public transportation. The roads and bridges def. need to be repaired or more accidents will occur.

It's about time that something is done about highway and bridge repair. When a family or person goes out to improve or make repairs do they wait 20 years? That's how long it has been since the gas tax has been increased. Our present Governor is more concerned with keeping his pledge of "no new taxes". Does his personal decisions always come down to money? You get what you pay for, meaning that best decisions may cost more now but be better in the long run. Time to stop passing the buck. Thank you to the State Legislators are making the tough decisons.

The Crosstown Highway is a ONE BILLION dollar project. If taxes were not raised to pay for other much needed projects like this and others across the state, how else would you pay for them?

Since the majority of the money will be spent in the metro for people who live in the metro. Maybe the majority of the money should come from the metro.
Why not try a per vehicle tax for the 7 county metro and a state tax increase of 1 or 2 cents.
