We hope the church on the hill here in Elkton has by now made the their decision and that they know people around the country are standing with them. You do not stand alone. On other threads there were some pretty mean posts, and there were also posts from good Christians that were also parents. We care.

I have been reading all this stuff and I find it very distrubing.

I am gay, and I don't do nearly this bad of stuff. I actually feel sorry for these people that think they can get away with all this stuff. That is why I just came out, and said here I am.

I am being harrased by a holiness preacher named Leon Rich. Leon Rich who pastors at South Mission Free Holiness Church has been bugging the heck out of me for being gay.

He won't mention all his connections to same sex couples all over the country, and not only that but he used to have a shop where he sold Adult Programming.

What is the worst sin? Him selling Adult Programming or me being gay?

I want you all to know there is a great movement of these sexual sins going on right under your noses. Sorry to be the one to tell you. Some have found out first hand ... like BHC. Sorry you guys are going through all this stuff. I hope God takes it all out of your Church and purges it for you.

I just want to let everyone know that Troy and Marla would never do anything that they are being accused of. I know them personally and they are wonderful people. I only hope that people don't believe everything that they read.

I was married to a "holiness" preacher who was involved in many hideous sins like the ones mentioned above. I finally left after he stooped to teenage girls! I was shunned and some of the "popular" preachers told me I was wrong to leave and I should go back. I didn't, but I went wild in the process. It took many years to learn who I was in Christ, without religion. All I had all my life was rules, without experiencing the holiness of God, which is reaching out to the outcasts and forsaken. Experiencing the true love and power of God, watching the drug addicts and alcoholics turn to God and achieve true recovery. I wouldn't trade this for the best "holiness" church in the country or the prestiege that is put on someone who has been put on a pedestal. Pride comes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall. I fell in the process of escaping but I fell into God's hands, which is grace. Only the grace of God can help the hurting ones in recovery. And He is there for the victims, the wives and children who are devastated by these betrayals.

First off "wondering from sperryville" you seem to know alot about this issue. only problem is, you've got it all twisted. Gary Edenfield did some terrible things, and he's owned up to it. Some people never do. I went to a church that's affiliated with him and his church, now Matt Holmer's church, and know otherwise. Besides, all men fall, who are you to kick them and try to keep them down. We all have one judge and Edenfield will face his jus like the rest of us.

Wow, your message is so refreshing after reading the others. I have a similar background, grew up in holiness, married to a preacher. During the lowest point in my life while going through a divorce, God taught me so much about his grace and mercy. It took alot of soul searching, prayer, professional counseling, and true friends but I am whole again. It has been 15 yrs since I left the holiness church. I still love those people but I could never go back to that way of life. Most of my family will have little to do with me but God has given me so many amazing people in my life who have become like family. I continue to grow in grace and I thank God every day for delivering me and giving me a second chance. You're so right, only the grace of God can help the hurting ones in recovery. His grace is what carries me still.

"Forsaken Pastor's Wife" & "totally agree":
Both of your comments are very touching. I too was born & raised Holiness & went through a crushing divorce and I too have left the Holiness Church. I love the people there (all my family still go there) but I don't feel like I belong anymore.
I was taught all my life to abide by the "rules" & never knew the true love, grace & forgiveness of our Father. I love the church I go to now! They reach out to everyone from every walk of life & don't look down on anyone...no matter what they LOOK LIKE....they only want to reach them for the Lord. And the presence of God is so rich at my church.
Anyway, I just wanted to say I really appreciate you ladies for sharing your stories. They were so refreshing! The posts above made me very sad & I feel so sorry for the people's lifes who have been affected by these gross sins. May we all realize that if it wasn't for the continual grace of God...we would ALL fall into traps of the devil! None of us are above these sins & when we start to think we could never do these things...we better be very careful.

First of all I certainly hope the new Pastor and his wife rebuild and begin a fresh new work in Edenfields old church

I was raised in, and worked in the Holiness Movement and what amazes me beyond all imagination is the lengths that the leadership and good old boy network will go to in order to cover up the blatant sins of their pals.
Sex, Money, adultery, tax evasion...etc are so common its crazy. Its time that the Holiness Church realizes that their outward appearance message falls way short of making them holy.

I happen to know leon Rich and if he's after you it's because he loves you and don't want you to burn in hell for being a cornholer. God hates this sin..it's all through the word of God..as for adult programmin you need proof before you start slandering a man of God.

I was raised in this Free Holiness Mess, it is a bunch of nonsense that places God as worse than Hitler and disregards the fact we have a God given conscience. I wrote a paper on the disturbing doctrine of hell. I dedecate this to Rev. Don Rich who is responsible for years of therapy I have endured. It can be viewed at the following link
http://www.tentmaker.org/testimonials/galen-g...
If anyone wants to get out of this mess they can, but it is a lot of hard work...but WORTH IT!!!
