Does anyone know anything about the man who got prison time for shoooting at trespassers on his property in 2006, at 3 AM and both trespassers tested psoitive for drugs? It took two trials to convict him.

I thought this was a miserable case. Everyone knows the victims were there to steal something. It was too late at night. They were high on illegal drugs. The residence was described as someplace that might have had alot of scrap metal. I am not sure why we wasted so much tax payer money on a conviction. Does anyone remember the victim's names? I would love to check if they have had any further robbery of drug convictions since this.

Brandi Schaffer and George McSwain. Everytime they get charged with something it gets dropped. Anyone know where they are? I hear they have a huge lawsuit against the man in prison and their lawyer is a state prosecutor. But no one told the defense lawyers, judge, 24 jurors, 4 alternates, or the man until after the second trial when they finally got a conviction.
So I checked, and if someone is on your property in the middle of the night, all you can do is "peacefully" escort them off. Sure didn't work for the MCCoy family.

if you knew either of them. They both had great jobs and made alot of money. They didnt need to steal from a backroad hick. Besides everyone knows that the road that was meant to be taken which is right next to the road they mistaken is a shortcut to elkton.

It you know anything Saul you know the road right next to it is private and they would have probably gotten shot at for real had they been trespassing there. Sadly I am pretty sure of the innocence of Mr. Krantz. I hope his appeal over turns his conviction. Brandi and George should be the ones serving time.

Looked up your record, Saul. Looks like Brandi and George aren't the only ones with a substance abuse problem. Birds of a feather and all that. You're her boyfriend? What happened to the dealer 40+ her senior she was living with? Nice act to follow, Saul. Way to go.

The name doesn't matter, Jess, you are totally correct. This was a sad miscarriage of justice from day one.

Spelling doesn't matter, Jess. This was a miserable case from day one and the wrong party is serving time.
Hey, Saul, looked up your record and it turns out Brandi and George aren't the only ones with a substance abuse history. Birds of a feather and all that........

It's funny Saul hasn't had anything to say. Notlocal and Bystander you both bring good points to the table.

It's a weekend. He and Brandi are partying hard...or in jail. Let me see now, the 'boyfriend' she had at the time of the shooting, Hollenabaugh, soon brought assault and theft charges against her. Then she lived with a drug dealer 30+ years her senior for quite a while.
Mr. Kranz's family, seven siblings, all have college degrees, he owned his property and business for over 25 years..but he's a hick?
Brandi testifes at trial one that she 'never did drugs in my life.' The representative from Christiana Hospital gets on the stand and refutes that because Brandi and George both were positive for drugs and alcohol that night.
At trial two, Brandi has been coached and admits she used drugs that night 'for the first and only time in my life.'
Hmmmm, now which was the lie? Because one of them had to be. According to people who went to high school with her, she's been using drugs at least ten years.
Mr. Kranz still sits in prison, away from his family, unable to earn a living, inmates murders all around him, while Brandi and George wait to collect on a civil suit they have against him, represented by an Asst. State Attorney. The judge, 24 jurors, 4 alternates and 5 defense attorneys were never told about the civil suit. Mr. Kranz was not served until 15 days after conviction. THREE years after the incident on 7-16-06. But the State Attorney prosecuing the case knew 'immediately following indictment.'
A civil suit for injuries that did not have them hopsitalized for even 24 hours.
Oh, right, George could not have been in the hospital. The police allowed him onto the Kranz property the next day DURING THE SEARCH. A search that did not yield one piece of physical evidence to place the shooting on his property or put any gun in his hands.
This is what the taxpayers money is being spent on? This is justice?
Good luck, Saul.

Civil suit? You're kidding! Well, one thing for sure, this time the jury should be taken for a ride to the Kranz residence just to make it abundantly clear that the 'wrong turn' theory is an impossibility.

I dated Billy years ago and he is a great guy. He built his business and owns his home and property...it's a sad day that we can not protect what is ours. I agree these two people where they to see what they could steal. Too bad they didn't know he is such a light sleeper...LOL

I feel terrible for the family of Mr.Krantz. I have heard so much more about this case then i ever read in the cecil whig. I always thought it was a stupid excuse for wrong turn. I have had problems with metal theft around the same time. I thought they were there to steal scrap. Did anyone else think the same?

IF they were there at all, I've thought it was for anything from having sex to doing a drug deal (the property does border 95 at that point) to stealing. But IF they were there, and were shot, why was no lead found? And why was the defense denied Brandi's car for their own testing? And why did a friend of Brandi's testify twice that she told him they had been shot at at a red light, no mention of a wrong turn?
But you are right, there was a lot to steal and scrap was very high in 2006. According to the maps and exhibits, where they placed the shooting, the lead spray would have hit one or more of his own cars. I've always wondered why they didn't go right to Union Hospital or call the police from their cellphones rather than calling and going to her boyfriends. What or who were they dropping off before they called for help? Would DNA testing have shown there was a third person in the car? And if he was the shooter, and there were two shots, why would he leave one shell ON TOP of his kitchen trash rather than get rid of it.....and where's there other shell?
Any jurors out there who can tell me?
This man and his family have been through way too much and it's not over.
