I am so very sad that Scott and his family are moving. Though I am excited that he is moving to a progessive city and will find much support in his involvement with the community there, unlike here. Unfortunately, churches today are controlled and run by a select few or a self selected one. It is also unfortunate that a congregation would allow such actions in their church. I have found Scott to be one o the most active and progressive ministers in Todd County, even while fighting cancer. Scott, needs to be in a living church where a congregation wants to see growth instead of enjoying death. I would hate to think that the blood of the death of a house of the Lord was on my hands. But then there are those that think they will probably escape the judgement of God and show purity before Him.
Good luck and much blessing to you. I hate to see you leave as an asset to this community but completely understand your decision and I understand the churches decision with the political influence.

I was saddened to learn that Rev. Murphy has left our community. He was the most active Pastor in our community and would always be willing to give his time to any person/organization that needed his help. Rev. Murphy has a great personality and a huge passion for the Lord.

Even though he will no longer be at the church in Elkton, he is still serving the First Christian Church in Guthrie in addition to the First Christian Church in Russellville so we have not totally lost him from Todd County.

I wish him all the success in the world at his new church. I will miss seeing him at Rotary.

. Rev. Murphy is a great guy and will be missed greatly by this community. Since Elkton is such a small town and everybody knows everybody's busniess, I heard about the school bus driver innocent with Rev. Murphy. I would be pretty upset too if the bus driver would not let him have my kids if I had forgotten or didn't know the password. Everyone knows who he is; he wrote for the paper every week, was in rotary, coached football at the high school, was the moderator for the Todd County political debates and the list could go on and on. The bus driver should have used common sense as to who he was, afterall the kids were being dropped off at the parsonage. His wife is a teacher in the school system. Geeeeez, do you really have to say negative comments on the Internet about the guy? But did you know that he came by the school board and personally apologized to the Director of the preschool program and he apologized to the Superintendant of the school system who happens to be one of his closest friends. Everybody makes mistakes, even Pastors. We all have bad days. Rev. Murphy is a close friend of mine and was there for me when I went through my divorce. I am honored to know him and call him my friend. He was a big asset to the community. Keep in mind that he was diagnosed with a rare and very aggressive form of oral cancer and almost died recently. He fought the cancer heroically and resumed his duties as the Padtor at his two churches much sooner than anyone expected. He has been through hell and back. I urge everyone who decides to post to remember that. Let's not drag a good man through the mud.

I did not even know he was no longer at his church in Elkton. I enjoy the friendship I have with him through the Guthrie Ministerial Association. He preached at my church for the Community Easter Sunrise Service 3 years ago, the folks in my church think he is an excellent preacher and he is.

He has said to several people he hopes bad things happen to that church and the people in it! Heard this from several members there. Sad excuse for Christian behavior. They gave him an opportunity and for that he should be gracious. Sour grapes or not, that is no way to behave
