Interesting that so many people fled the city, citing crime as the reason, and now crime has followed them to the suburbs. Give me the shops of Hampden, Canton, Fells Point, Federal Hill, and Harbor East any day.

It's the city expanding amd pushing its crime out to the suburbs that is the problem. Towson is on the way out because of the city riff-raff -- people that used to shop there now go up the road to Hunt Valley and spend money there instead.

Of course, this could all be easily controlled if law-abiding citizens were allowed to carry concealed weapons. Gang-bangers would no longer think of shoppers as such easy targets once they start seeing their homeys leaving the malls in body bags.

From Wikipedia:

"Research comparing various countries' violent crime rates, murder rates, and crimes committed with weapons, have found that legal ownership of guns, including concealed carry guns, generally reduces crime rates."

and

"Unfortunately, an almost perfect inverse correlation exists between those who are affected by gun laws, particularly bans, and those whom enforcement should affect. Those easiest to disarm are the responsible and law abiding citizens whose guns represent no meaningful social problem. Irresponsible and criminal owners, whose gun possession creates or exacerbates so many social ills, are the ones most difficult to disarm."

I'd bet more than one person in Mumbai wished they'd been packin' when the shooting started. Better to be a participant than a target. BTW - you can have the entire city to yourself and are welcome to it.

News flash -- you're already surrounded by guns, and there already are shootouts throughout Baltimore City. The problem is that current MD law makes it impossible for law-abiding citizens to get a CCW permit to defend themselves against those who carry guns illegally.

There's nothing you can do to get rid of the guns, AT ALL. If it didn't work in Iraq, a war zone controlled by an occupying army, why do you think such an effort would work here? Criminals ignore all the gun laws now -- what other possible law would you pass to get rid of guns? Instead, we've effectively removed the consequences of thugs robbing citizens at gun point, because they know they can get away with it without endangering themselves. I *guarantee* you that would change after a few of them had their heads splattered all over a parking lot for all their little thugs buddies to see. It's already been statistically proven in every state where CCW has been enacted that violent crime is reduced when law-abiding citizens have access to firearms.
