I know Chapel Hill (I think) does like a Christmas store for low-income families. I think maybe the parents pay a little bit for the gifts, but I'm not sure if they do or not.

And, of course the Salvation Army does the Angel Tree. I've done that for about four years, but I'm very careful to remove all price tags and UPC codes so the parents can't return the items to the store and use the money for drugs or alcohol.
