Back in November the day after Thansgiving, there was an Elkins teen shot in a hunting accident in Tucker County. The boy had to be flown to Pittsburgh and they had to amputate his leg below the knee. Not one word has been reported since. What is taking so long? The person who shot the boy is a convicted felon. He should have been put in jail by now. He wasn't even allowed to be in possesion of a firearm. When the boy was taken to Davis Memorial Hospital, the hospital did not report it to authorities as a gunshot. The wife of the person who shot the boy worked for the hospital for a long time, but no longer works there. Did she call in a favor and have the hospital cover it up and not report it? If it wasn't for the hospital in Pittsburgh, it may never had been reported. It took 2 days for the authorities here to be informmed, plenty of time to hide the weapon. The boy was on the Elkins High football team and was noninamted to the first team all-star conference team as a defensive back. WVU and other teams had been looking at him as a recruit. It is a shame that his career has been cut short by a convicted felon shooting at deer after dark. Where is justice in this town? Please pray for the boys recovery and for his family. There is a fund raiser going on to help pay for medical costs through the Citizens Bank. If anyone wishes to donate, contact the bank. They will know who I am talking about.

Robbie Reckart finally admitted to shooting the teen but ony after they found he had cocaine in his system when he went to his hearing and after they found a gun at his house. He knows he's not supposed to have a gun. Tanner never would have been injured if he hadn't been carrying the rifle. Now he has to make restitution to Tanner and his family. It should be in the millions, but he'll get off lucky...just wait and see. It will be six weeks or more before they sentence him. It will probably end up like last time, give him time and then just put him on probation. That was because in 1988, he turned in everybody else involved in his cocaine ring. I feel sorry for the person who sold it to him recently. Robbie didn't even get a slap on the hands this time for cocaine, so he probably told the police who he got it from and that person is being watched.
