Do you think it ever occurred to them that just maybe you are taking more of a risk hiking in Iran than say, Como Park? I hope these poor kids come back shortly, but you do have to wonder how much common sense, if any at all, they possess?

Didn't this same article run last week? How many times does the PP need to tell the same story in a misguided attempt to drum up support for these 3 very deserving prison residents?

why would you go hiking there when there is so much conflict with that region? why choose those two countries? go somewhere else. you got yourself into the trouble why the hell should our entire country get you out of it. you chose to go there. solve your own problem. hike somewhere that isn't a war zone next time.

Because they were spying for Israel.

I am betting that he will bring them back. He doesn't need any more idiots in his country than he already has. AND these three stooges better not expect, or get, some ticker tape parade. We glorify idiocy too much already in our "once great" country.

I have no sympathy for those fools they crossed Iran's border illegally. Let them rot in jail for awhile maybe it will teach them a lesson.

These hikers, unlike Al Gore's reporters in Korea, knew what they were getting into. So lets not send anyone, like Bill Clinton, to bail them out so they can write a book.

yeah.....prudence is an important virtue....act imprudently, make stupid decisions and the Laws of Nature take over.......

best case scenario: they get back and become right-thinking conservatives......

else get them back here so they can plan their hike through Zimbabwe or Yemen next year!

Why are we still calling them "hikers"? There were amateur journalists/videographers who should have known better than to venture into an area of a hostile foreign country.

This story is a cautionary tale to U.S. travelers abroad. If the parents can convince a U.S. diplomat (like Carter or Clinton) to once AGAIN go plead for their sorry asses, then OK. But when we say that people have to face the consequences of their actions, we aren't just talking about Michael Vick, Plaxico Burress or Kanye West.

I think they should spend a couple of years as guests of the Iranians. A bunch of treehuggers who decided, of all the places in the world, to go hiking on the Iraq/Iran border. Serves 'em right.

Three college students that enjoy hiking. Did these three ever think that maybe, just maybe, a map and compass course would be helpful. If not that what is wrong with a good map and a GPS unit. I doubt that they were spying, I think they were ill prepared and really stupid.

I think that when A'madinnerjacket gets here, we should hold him hostage until we get the stupid hikers back.

Maybe their families and friends would like to mortgage everything they own so they can mount a defense? That way, their stupidity can stay "in-house" and not be a drain on honest taxpayers. They are in Iran because their "save the world" mentality got them there.

Maybe they were ACORN reps trying to arrange a booty call!

hold your hopes high when your loved ones end up in a county like this because it will not be easy. I am very anti people who do not know well enough to stay as far as possible from these horrible communist countries. why is the question for these people who did not know any better than to go near these communist countries.
