Are our school officials putting our children in double jeopardy when school level punishment does not satisfy them ? When a student is assaulted at school and is given school suspension that has to be made up, then should the school principal via the schools School Resourses Officer have that child criminally charged and required to attend court and then be introduced and entered into the criminal justice system. In view of the first part, you may agree if students are fighting, but what if one student is being assaulted and only defends himself. An investigation would even be proper, in my opinion to determine whether the occurance is an assault with self defence or an actual affray. I urge anyone who reads this to consider school policy and the using the court for extra punishment and leverage to punish innocent students that are only acting in self defence. This is the United States of America, and anyone has the right to protect themselves. Weigh the facts, what if this is your child ?
