You fail to address the big problem of school shootings where students have killed teachers and fellow students. And recently, Texas has passed its approval for college students to carry loaded guns on college campuses in order to defend themselves. May look like a shoot-out at OK Corral on a campus near you. So where are your grown children going to attend college? The GOP and NRA want "guns for everyone" from Columbine High School to Virginia Tech..! That's it - "Guns for Everyone" so they say!
Ok, I'll answer this and you won't like it, but we'll never agree on this subject either. First of all, students aren't going to be allowed to just grab a gun and carry it around. In order to carry a gun just as with a Concealed Handgun License, students have to pass both a class room and range test in the use of a firearm. You fail to ask the question of how many people with these licenses are the ones going out and shooting people. I think you know the answer.

As for my grown children, they are far beyond college and out gainfully employed. However, I do have a grand daughter going to Texas Tech. She knows how to use a gun since I taught her. However, providing she passes the class room and range test, I have no problem and would actually encourage her to carry a pistol. I always worry about the perverts running around in this world over which neither you nor I have control.

People kill people. Guns are only one of the many methods people use to kill people. If everyone has their guns taken away, then only the criminals will have guns, and they don't care what laws are on the books. Gun laws are made for law abiding citizens. You would have a better argument if you could convince the rest of us that you could prevent criminals from using guns to prey on the general population. People have a right to protect themselves. Plain and simple.

Did you grow up in New Mexico which is an open carry state or did you grow up in the politically correct East and move to New Mexico? I have carried some type of gun since I was a youngster. That was and is a New Mexico legacy for those of us who use guns to hunt, shoot sporting clays, and keep them handy for protection of our families. I sincerely hope people such as you have no effect on violating the Second Amendment and get enough support to take our guns away.

You always take a shot at the GOP in every post. I am sure my Democratic gun-toting Indian relatives in Oklahoma would not think any more of you wanting to take their guns than I do. One of them is a State senator and I know for a fact he votes for gun rights. Gun rights are not just a GOP discussion. I wonder how many Democrats and Independents in New Mexico support gun rights? I'll let others weigh in on that.

You are soooooo far off the mark in my previous posting, but that is what I expect of you. I am a gun owner and have never heard any person in Government, state or federal, say Government is taking away our guns. What I do support is what type of guns are sold to anyone who desires to purchase. A good friend is a licensed gun dealer who admits that less-than-honest gun dealers are not enforcing the current laws for checking persons who wish purchase a gun at gun shows. If in AZ, I can walk into the major gun stores and purchase 20 or more AK-47's or Glocks or any combination thereof at one time. All people should have the right to defend themselves, but selling some makes/models of guns to any person without adhering to the law is BAD for all citizens. Guns are used to kill people and commit crimes - they can be used from great distances from the intended victim where a knife must be used very close up. Gunmen can hide in order to kill, shoot from distances and then disappear - big chicken s*its. Cowards and worse, so guns for everyone!!! Pray you or a family member never comes into the cross-hairs of a coward with evil intentions or you'll be fertilizing daisy's. PS: Cowards love college campuses and class rooms where victims have no where to go for safety. At least with a knife attach you can get your hands on the person intending to harm you. When did you last outrun a bullet?

2 points One on education I only think about 1 or 2 % are making all the trouble in the schools if I wrote something other than that I am sorry I wrote in a way that was misunderstood.I don`t think everyone is horrible,It all depends on your background.and on Schools, every year around this this time of year, everyone is reminded of Colorado and Hitlers birthday and things kind of go crazy in the media.I am more worried in a rain storm that I might get hit by lightning than getting shot by a nut.And BTW having lived in Westwood I think with all the drinking and other things that go on I think guns are a bad idea.

I doubt you get any less from me than I get from you. Your explanation did not cover your previous post. However, I don't think this discussion is worth any further discourse with you. Glad to hear you own a gun. Hopefully, you know how to use it to protect yourself and your family.

Is this typical child's play on your part - "when you can't get your way you take your marbles and go home." The subject of education is multi-faceted and has many problem areas to tackle.
