Inefficient, incompetent pharmacy in Lake Geneva Walmart

I ALWAYS have the worst experiences at Walmart pharmacy in Lake Geneva, but today was even more special than usual. I'm so angry I can hardly type right now.
The dr. called in my prescription at about 1 pm today. I went in to get it at 3 pm, waited in line for 10 minutes just for them to tell me it's not filled yet, it should be about an hour. Antibiotics don't take 2 hours to fill, but OK. I'm already irritated, but walk around for an hour like I have nothing else to do.
I come back to the pharmacy in an hour, wait in line AGAIN for at least 10 mins. and they say it's not ready yet, and I say why not? One of the techs tells me there is trouble with the prescription.
No one is telling me anything about what the trouble is though. I said how long can it take to get antibiotics filled??
So since no one is telling me anything YET, I have to yell over the counter to the pharmacist to ask what the problem is. He and all the 'techs' are looking at each other like I just robbed a bank. wtf? FINALLY, the pharmacist asks me if the dr. is a relative of mine. I say yes...so?
I had to wait in there for 2 hours and 45 minutes because the Dr's last name is the same as mine...duh! he's probably a relative, big deal!! So, the techs who think WAY above their pay grade apparently think I have called in my own prescription (it's not heroin folks, antibiotics!)
OK, I guess I can understand they may have questions about it, but WHY NOT ASK ME??? The Dr. is in a national data base with his Med lic # that he used to call it in, but they are too incompetent to look it up or ask me or do their F'ing JOB! They said they tried calling him but got voice mail...how many Drs answer their phones?? If they had asked me I would have given them his pager number, but NOOOO. Don't they have a paging system in the store?? Instead, they keep a customer waiting for 2+ hours because they think the patient is pulling a fast one!?
But what REALLY ticked me off is when I tried to get someone to tell me who took the call from the doctor and they said we don't know. When I said he must have given you his Med Lic # to call it in, they said no, he did not, which is a lie - they are required to.
THEN the tech says if I have a problem with it I should call 1-800-WALMART. Nice, huh?
I FINALLY got my prescription filled, I found the asst. store manager, Greg. He listened to me but said they are so busy back there, blah blah blah...well, SO AM I! Does that mean they get to be unprofessional??
What I really want is a sincere apology from all the incompetent 'techs' behind that pharmacy counter who not only lied about a Dr., but kept me waiting all that time without letting me know they had a problem filling the prescription AND for being so damn rude.
Come on Walmart managers! you can do better than that!

It's Walmart. I wouldn't be caught dead in one. I suggest a real pharmacy, perhaps locally and independently owned.

Please.... I've had equally bad experiences at "real" pharmacies too. Continue to be a hater and I'll continue to shop there and save money.

I have no problem with the rest of the store, just the pharmacy - who's employees basically are entrusted with people's medical care and should be held to a higher standard, whether they are in Walgreen's or a Dollar Store. There is just no excuse for their incompetence when handling such an important job.
Routinely people are made to wait in line for hours while the overstaffed pharmacy's incompetence fumbles around thinking way over their pay grade instead of DOING THEIR JOB. They have no respect for customer's time or intelligence.
That doesn't make me a hater, it makes me rightfully ANGRY and I wish more people would complain about it to their higher ups to get something done about it.

not to THIS extreme you haven't, I guarantee it. Lake Geneva Walmart pharmacy clerks are incompetent and waste everyone's time on a consistent basis! They are rude and lack the attitude and brains required to work behind that counter.

Try the Pharmacy Station in Elkhorn. They are a little farther away but they are always pleasant, friendly AND professional. There is nothing worse when you already don't feel well then to get the run around.

BTW, I had a sick dog a few years ago and the vet called around pricing antibiotics and Pharmacy Station was the least expensive.

Friendly, professional and competitively priced... a very nice change for a generation that seems to have lost sight of the "Customer is always right" moto.

I wouldn't go anywhere else.

My Dr. faxes my prescriptions to the pharmacy of my choice (Wal Mart in Delavan) and while I've had to wait for my turn I noticed everyone was treated with the same professionalism and courtesy.
Perhaps your holier than thou crap attitude had something to do with it.

Well said.

I see it all the time, people that think their s**t doesn't stink treating people who work at retail stores like second class citizens, then wondering why they don't get any help.

OR...perhaps Delavan isn't Lake Geneva?? Two different locations. I'm happy for you that Delavan has a better pharmacy.

BTW, how did you come up with holier than thou crap attitude? You're too funny! Is it because you don't mind wasting time? or don't mind being accused of calling in your own prescription? or don't mind not being told there is a problem with your prescription while you wait in the store for a few hours ?
OK, then you have your opinion and I have mine. It doesn't mean anyone is holier (unless it's YOU), and there are a LOT of folks that have the same opinion I hear grumbling while at the LG pharmacy.

Thanks for the tip! I just go to Target now, they are the nicest people and very professional. I highly recommend the Target pharmacy in Lake Geneva. AND they will match the competitors prices! Way to go Target!

Hey Mizike, I worked retail for many many years. That's how I KNOW how bad the pharmacy clerks are at the LG Walmart pharmacy! I loved my retail jobs and was always helpful to customers and they usually left the store very happy. Why would you say people think retail workers are second class? I don't recall anyone thinking retail workers (or any workers) being second class citizens. I have, however, heard people say a bad clerk was nasty or RUDE and INCOMPETENT! It doesn't matter WHAT job you're doing, you can't be rude to customers.

and, for the record...I didn't need their HELP, I just needed them to do their JOB.

I stopped using Walmart pharmacy many years ago due to the same reason, but the pharmacy I started to use (Walgreens) is the worst I have ever been to. Talk about rude. Not only do the pharmacists constantly making you wait while they sit on the phone but one woman pharmacist actually has the nerve to call your doctor and cause problems for you with the perscriber. Every perscription I seem to bring in she calls the doctor to make sure they wrote it like I made them myself. Last time I got fed up and tried asking her why she is constantly calling the doctor and she replied " I don't have to awnser that and if you don't leave, I will call the police." I couldn't believe it. How dare someone threaten you when you ask a simple question. As I was leaving to complain to the store manager of the Lake Geneva Walgreens, I overheard the same woman do the same thing to three other people and turn them away. What happen to just asking the coustomer and treating them with a little respect instead of like a criminal? That is by far the worst pharmacy I have EVER been to, and I will NEVER go back.. RUDE A-HOLES!!!

I know when I need my STD medications, I call my brother-in-law doctor, who has a different last name. There's no confusion at the pharmacy at all.

Sorry Carrie, but the customer is NOT always right. That's an outdated "perception adage" that any competent business realizes is simply not true. This doesn't excuse corporate incompetence but for the majority of well-run businesses, they learned a long time ago that the "customer is not always right."

Stephanie I found the same thing at Walgreens in LG. They treat you like a criminal in there too. I think it's the area. I never had this problem outside of WI.

It is corporate policy for All those pharmacies to make you wait. that way you will shop around. At Osco when I worked there we had to time stamp time in and out. 12 minutes was the minimum accepted time.

1. I always CALL 1st to confirm my Prescription is Ready..
2. I ofund one main reason for the Back Up? Far too many people are trying to get Free Medical Advice from these staff of People..
3. In Either Town of LG or Delevan? They are such Small Towns , there really shouldn't be anykind of Back up..
Ask them Why?

But, expect Back ups though & during the Summer Season.. 9 mos of the Yr? Not so much..

If there are at yours? Maybe they can't recruit the satff to want ot Work there and can get More $ working elsewhere..
There is a shortage of Pharmacist you know.. and they need to make at least $65k yr I Understand..

The rest are Just support-Clerks ..don't expect much from them.. as you would anyothers..

and how long does it take for you to get your Dr.( or his Nurse) to Call you back?

Imagine that x at least 5 per hour..for even a Small Volume Pharmacy.. Like the Walmarts and Walgreens in these 2 Small towns.. Go to a Major Town in Illinois and watch how it's done.. But then again, they're paid at least 25% more..
