Elkorn folks need to move on..you work, shop and drive in omaha..its only fair u are now omaha..developing and expansion occurs in all cities that are growing..id rather be in a place that has a bright future and is expanding, than a poor depleting city..

i was at the qwest for all 3 ncaa basketball sessions..parking was fine..i parked 2 blocks from the qwest..they will be building even more parking for the stadium where the old swanson building is..developing downtown is a huge draw for major business's and young professionals..that is what omaha needs in order to gain prosperity..rosenblatt is a baseball stadium, nothing more..if they can tear down yankee stadium im sure we can lose rosenblatt..if it is that emotional for you then you should most likely dont have much of a life..the stadium is being funded in a number of ways..hotel tax, keno, etc..taxes will not increase as drastically as you all think..just my opinion, i hope nobody is too offended..i am just trying to look at things with a level head and most importantly, with logic..

I think I have a solution that gives everyone what they want as far as the stadium debate goes. Here is my idea. Once the new stadium is built downtown, instead of taking a wrecking ball to Rosenblatt, we should carefully and lovingly dismantle it and then sell it piece by piece to the fine "Save Rosenblatt" folks and use the proceeds to help pay for the new stadium. That way, in essence, we have "Saved Rosenblatt", raised money to pay for the new stadium so those that fear their taxes are going to go up can breath a sigh of relief, Omaha gets a new ball park, the NCAA stays, CWS has a new venue, north downtown gets a new icon in it's facelift and the zoo gets room to expand. Wow!!! Talk about a win/win situation.

As far as the attempts to recall Mayor Fahey, I am left scratching my head. You recall a mayor for doing his job? Nonsense! A mayor's job is to look out for the best interests of the city for which he has been elected to lead. It seems to me he is doing just that. I have seen more positive progress in this city in the past seven years than I have in the past twenty. So those of you who are belly-aching, take your sour grapes somewhere else. Perhaps you would be happier in a city like Detroit with it's present state of decline, high unemployment, and fleeing population. You bunch of ingrates should count your blessings and reconize what a great city Omaha is and thank the Mayor for his forward thinking leadership. I mean that in the nicest possible way though. Have a great day!

Rosenblatt, a landmark Stadium? Its a crappy stadium, in a crappy part of town. Omaha's real gem is the Zoo, no matter how we look at it, Omaha is known nationwide for 2 things. Steaks, and a Zoo. Not the CWS, Not the Royals. If We have to build a new Stadium in a new location, so that the zoo can expand, by all means do it. I am willing to guess that more people visit the zoo each year then people go to yhe CWS. and the Zoo attendance sufferd when the CWS was there, cause the locals didnt want to deal with all the Traffic, or having to park on someones lawn.

Screw this, whoever is for it is more than welcome to pay the tax increase that will occur on behalf of me. I can promise you this, if omaha builds this and tax goes up on entertainment, I will do all my dining out, movie watching, etc. outside of the city limits. Gretna and council bluffs are close.
Good Luck finding a place to eat in Gretna.
