I'm writing this review because if I was the owner/manager I would want to know if something was wrong with my business. I recently went to 523 Tap & Grill with a group of 4, we are all business owners and/or lawyers, for lunch. This is supposed to be an upper class type of place and the server came out acting all high class, but the service was nothing close. Our meal, for the 4 of us was over $50, which we expected, but with that, you should have/expect good service. Not once did the waiter come out to refill our drinks, not until we were about to pay our bill did he ask. Then when we ordered our meal, we each ordered a sandwich, a simple order (we ordered 2 types of sandwiches for 4 people, so 2 of one kind and 2 of another) which when they brought it out, they brought out the wrong sandwiches (which they did nothing on the bill to compensate, and charged us for the more expensive sandwich that we actually ordered, but they brought out a cheaper sandwich which we ate), even though he had written it down correctly as we ordered. At these type of places it is supposed to be quality over quantity, but my sandwich was not good at all, as I would rather have eaten the crackers that came with the soup as they tasted better and were more filling. Then they have a huge drape, that is supposed to keep the noise down I assume, but it was so loud in there, you had to pretty much scream at each other to be able to hear. When I asked everyone else in my party if they would come back, each one said No. I want to see Elkhart businesses succeed but this looks like a recipe for disaster. My comments may seem harsh, but if I was management I would want to know feedback.

I am soooo disappointed in this place. First of all when we got there ( three of us ) we were escorted to a table that was behind a curtain... too weird.. so we asked to sit at the taller round tables near the front... much better. Then when the waitress finally came after telling us she'd be right with us 3 times she tells us that there is no beer on tap.( WHAT?) It had been broken all day. When we ask to see a beer list she doesn't have one and tries to tell us all they have in bottles...( way too confusing ) We end up ordering the Main St burger and Arizona burger both with fries. The waitress never asked us how we would like our burgers cooked. In fact she never even asked us if we wanted to start with an appetizer and also did not make any suggestions. Then when the food came I was in better spirits... it all looked delicious but I NEVER thought a place could ruin fries. These fries were obviously warmed up or had been sitting for a while... YUCK. The onion peels on the MainSt burger were stale as well and on the Arizona burger the bbq jalapeno relish was just bbq sauce and random pieces of pepper.. disappointing. Our beers were empty several minutes and our food gone ( except for the fries )before she came and asked if we wanted another. By then we were ready for our checks. My friend and I were planning on spending the evening there but were gone in 70 minutes. It seems as though a manager or owner would come around and ask how things were or greet us or something.. but nothing. although we did suspect the gentleman leaning on the end of the bar in the bright green striped shirt might have been someone in charge... When we got up to leave no one said good bye or thank you... the place was not busy and we passed by our waitress on the way out. She said not a word... she was too busy chatting with the hostess who was using a great big table to fold napkins at the entrance... tacky tacky tacky. Will not be going back...so sorry Elkhart.

This is without a doubt one of the best restaurants to start in Elkhart in a long time. The food is wonderful, the service is quick, the drinks are great. In reading the above posts, it's hard to believe thse folks were in the same place.

It's hard to believe that everyone here is arguing with each other about their experience at a restaurant. Instead of coming to an owner or manager with any problems or troubles about the seating, food, or service, you decided to keep quiet. Until you get online, where all of a sudden, you're opinions and suggestions come out into the open. A new establishment is prone to a few kinks that need working on, nobody is perfect out of the starting gate, unless it's a corporate or franchised restaurant. This place is not. It's a 'mom and pop' type of place that needs feedback in order to make things better. Why fix it if it isn't broke? The owners and managers are good, decent people who genuinely care that their customers are comfortable and well taken care during their visit. The food is made fresh to order which sometimes slows things down. It's not prepackaged fare. There are actual recipes used from morning until closing time. Take that into consideration. It was funny reading all the other 'reviews' with the name calling and jabs at which ISPs he or she uses. Not very professional IMHO.

My Experience was much different then the previous. I was there with 3 other women and we were very much loving the waitress and the ambiance. I believe is chic yet comfortable. I loved that every thing we ate was made by chef. The Sandwiches we had for lunch were amazing we all loved them and the homemade chips yummy. Also the Dirty Martini was the best I have ever tasted. I believe that the curtain was to add to the decor and also to make the bar not so obvious and soften the appearance of the place. Thanks so much we have been there quite a few times since then and are planning a meal there on the 23rd.

Seriously you need to get a life you are very criticle and a mean person. You are the kind of person that finds only faults and flaws, never anything nice or kind. Its people like you that put the screw in scrooge at christmas time.
