I currently work for them, I hate every second of it. I'm too slow physically to work in the kitchen, and they refuse to put me on the register. I always get backed up and I have like no help half the time. At the end of the day, I don't ever get to leave on time, I'm always over like an hour or so. It gets tiring and frustrating knowing that every day I have to go through it all again just so I can get the measly paycheck after two weeks.

I to currently work at Casey's. I have been with Casey's since 2002. Yes, they do have there problems like any other store. But from all the comments that I have just read it sound like to me either your managers and district managers suck and you let them walk all over you. No body is going to tell me to work if I'm not getting paid, that's just stupid on your part and just because there higher rank then you doesent mean you cant tell them how you fell they still have to treat you with respect they started out the same spot you are at. As for breaks my manager just had a meeting on this by law they don't have to give you a break, because with Casey's as long as your not busy and there is someone to cover your spot you can step outside. You don't have to be a smoker to get a brake. Every 4 hours is required a 15 but because Casey's doesent make you CLOCK OUT there not mandatory to give you or anyone one. My manager works up to 15 hours a day sometimes she doesent get paid for anything over her contract, which isent right but thats what they sign up for. To me it just sounds like some stores have a sucky manager and not a very good team. Yeah, my store has it's problems and I'm not saying that I havent ran an errand for the store but you have to remember you can so "NO"

I walked out of my job as a manager of Casey's after quite a few years. Got tired of all the bs, especially from the district manager and higher ups. My supervisor was okay. You are set up to fail no matter how hard you try. I suffered a nervous breakdown due in part because of this company. Right now I am not able to work at all. When you know you are right about something and that corporate made a mistake, it's like pulling teeth to get something done. While still employed there, I was always given an excuse about the issue. Since I quit I did pursue it and after hounding them with countless emails, I was finally acknowledged for finding the mistake in their account department and was paid the money that was due me. It's no wonder they get sued all of the time - because they think they can sweep things under the rug and it will be forgotten all because they are a huge company. Something I find a might strange and I just found out about it, is that they aren't even registered with the Better Business Bureau. Wonder if there's some reason behind that!!

Casey's Corp Office wont do anything to help either. I can tell you that from my past employment there.

I worked for Casey's off and on for about 5 years. When I quit the manager would show up at my house and make me feel guilty for quitting. When corp took over the store I worked in I was told NOBODY would get a pay cut. LIERS!!!! I was dropped by 60 cents an hour. For months I told my manager to get it fixed and she would never do it. I quit again. Called corp. and they told me that my manager never reported it on time and I slipped through the cracks. I never did get my money. I was working up to 60 hours a week then. I went back after that cause there was no other job in that town. Once again I was messed with. They needed an asst manager and there was a toss up between me and a kid who never graduated high school or got his GED.(I was attending college to be a paralegal at the time). Well this kid advertises his sex life and made advances to customers and....well he was not the person for the job. As I said; I quit again. Not long after that my husband and I had a vehicle repod and lost our house cause I quit my job and was unable to find anything close to where my kids attended school. We now live in OK and have debt up to our eyes and we are doing our best to recover from our past. It all really sucks. But as the saying goes...we learn from our mistakes. It just took me several time and the loss of most our personal items. Deal with it and move on. Can't change the past.

After bringing to attention our stores managers THEFT and doctoring of the books. The Assistant manager was fired- why? She's the one who made the report...The district manager did not do anything to our manager nor did they investigate why? Easy! She was in on it, day after day we watched her laughing as she walked into his office, shut the door and came out with bulging coat pockets. Only to drive off in her brand new corvette or her mercedes... We as employees never saw overtime, rarely got breaks including long 10+ hour shifts!!! Soon 3 employees were let go for "theft" but were never charged.... sound like a cover up to anyone? Today I finally got back a check for owed money via a law suit against these crime lords at caseys... my overtime. I myself worked there less than 8 months and my check was over 400 dollars makes you wonder just how much they took from their employees as a whole...

I am aware of a man that began at Caseys in Andalusia, Il about 6 years ago, he walked in as assistant and within about 6 months management on salary there. I see these posts and I feel for you but this MAN was an excellent manager. He kept to Casey's rules and the law and knew how to manage people with a firm hand and a real heart of gold. He was tough when he needed to be and gave 2nd and 3rd chances for improvement (book says there is a write up schedule) He sang he laughed he knew his job, knew the customers and was the best manager they ever had...ask anyone in town!#'s wise he was top dog and the profits were amazing--happy customers are return customers.

He was fired a week ago..... Our guess is that he noticed a mistake of the distric manager and she got an attitude and told the regional to find a reason... they found one-- he forgot to "clock out" Christmas Day and when he did (a few hours later)he didnt adjust his hours --- Hes on SALARY and it didnt affect his pay one way or the other!

no write up, no warning, just a bunch of backstabbing against a man running one of "their" stores who was obviously easily capable of taking their position and doing a better job.

its all about the manager-- and this one was GREAT! Caseys corporate-- if you read this BRING MIKE BACK

i worked for caseys for 4 months never missed a day or got one single write up. Not a single drive off. My son stepped on nails and they went all the way through his foot. He had poisoning from the nails. I called the store to inform them that I was at the hospital with him, by the way my son is a diabetic. The manager would not even come to the phone. I was informed that I had to find my own replacement. I eventually went to work that day and was told that I had to come in because the two other people that was working were incompetent and could not close the store by themselves. I had closed the store with only one other employee on several occassions. I quit. Then was told when i put them down as a reference for a new job that the manager would make sure that I did not get hired. I had a very bad experience at casey's. I was one of the worst places I ever worked. Constant turmoil, threats of being fired, and lots of other unethical things went on.

I had thought about working for a Casey's store, being it is only a few blocks from my new house. However, being hearing impaired (45% loss in both ears which is a severe loss), I figured I wouldn't be any good on the job. Glad I didn't go ahead and apply for it if they make you travel around on your own dime. By the way, I'm from Pocohantas, Iowa. Used to live in crappy Des Moines where the services are less and the tax fees increase!

I just quit Casey's in Elysian MN cuz they wanted to write me up cuz i supposedly didn't do enough on my close shift the night before! But yet I had done the ordering which is the manager's job, cleaned that god awful top oven which takes at least 41/2 hours, made pizzas and the normal clean up of the kitchen before closing! Because I didn't clean up some boxes in the cooler that the manager had left she wanted the asst. manager to write me up! BS!!! I walked out! if corporate don't investigate their managers at that store they may as well close the doors there. Not to mention the customers that won't come in there now because of the new manager. That manager is constantly writing up the employees for BS

I have worked for Caseys Genral Store for 6 months. I started out as a second assistant manager. I think the job is a good job. The hours are long but if you work the entire time like you should do at a job it goes by fast. The customers are fun and the employees and my manager are fun. I work close to 50 hours a week sometimes. I do not complain about it. As far as breaks go you can take a break if you really need to. IF IT IS MORE THAN THIRTY MINUTES LONG YOU NEED TO CLOCK OUT. Read the employee handbook before you run your mouth. I like caseys a lot it has been good to me. Also btw I just got promoted to assistant manager. In only six months I got promoted to assistant manager. I will also in the future have my own store because I am a hard worker and do ym job correctly. Caseys is a business that rewards had work and disciplines slackers EXACTLY WHAT ALL COMPANIES SHOULD DO. For all you people complaining about Caseys Genral Store, I am glad you do not work for us anymore because you weren't a good worker while you were here.
