Kevyn Orr admonishes the DIA for not acting to protect their work before now. He says when it comes down to bankruptcy, art work is just another asset on the table.

It is a very sad day when you think a once great American city may have to declare bankruptcy and sell off its cultural assets. However, what about art that was donated by benefactors to the City for viewing by its citizens? Could that be categorized perhaps as trust property and not an asset of Detroit? How much is on loan to the gallery as opposed to donated? Lots of issues, but nevertheless, it is all sad.

I feel bad for the bond holders who put their faith in the city and stand to lost their investments. The city will survive. They just won't pay the bill.

Where was this collective citizen sadness when bond and stock holders of GM were thrown under the bus by the obozo administration in the bankruptcy process.?

Many investors lost life savings, retirement money so unions, GM mismanagers and the government could bail out the dysfunctional GM.

GM will fail again, with a management team made up of previous GM mismanagers, unions, and government which has never run or managed anything successfully on budget or profitably they are a sure bet to fail.

Government can't even run government honestly and what do they know about cars?

The city of Detroit was badly mismanaged by the elected official of Detroit the very people trusted to properly manage the city finances.

Time to man up and pay the bills owed by the city.

There is no collective citizen ownership of art work in the city. If there is you have to find the 700.000 or so former citizens of the city who fled the violence and fire and bring them back for a piece of the Pie.

Sell off the art and pay the bills the city has accrued stop whining about the poor votes you cast in previous elections.

Next time pay closer attention to who your electing to represent you and pay attention to what they are doing to your trust and the city.
