Arlington Heights asks residents to talk trash

Not only is garbage pickup a hot topic in Arlington Heights, but so is how residents should be surveyed about the topic.

How about the polluted smell of garbage sitting around for a week at a time in the summer. Where do we store the giant trash containers? Will people take the wheeled trash bins in after pickup or will they stay at the curb for days on end?

I'd like to see a more progressive garbage service that has scheduled hazardous waste and electronic waste pickups several times per year. Much of that type of thing is getting into the waste stream because there isn't anything really organized for how to deal with it short of people proactively looking for how best to handle and driving it someplace for drop-off. It is time to get moving on that and make it a routine part of garbage collection, even if just 4 times per year. Is there some company amongst the potential bidders that could do that?
