A lot of companies are moving to area where the labor is cheaper. Some from one state to another and others to markets outside the United States. You can blame the Democrats or Republicans if you want. You can blame the corporations if you like as well.

The only person that you can truely blame is yourself! You complain about them moving jobs to other countries and yet you still purchase good made from these companies. Our jobs are being outsourced to other countries so the corporation can make more money. The sad part is these companies still expect the US Market to purchase these same goods and services.

The next time you are shopping for an item maybe stop a pay a couple extra dollars to getting something from a company that doesn't outsource to other coutries. The only way to solve the problem is to limit what purchases we make from them.

But in the end the coroporation want to make all the money and we want to save as much as we can. Not a good relationship if you ask me.

Well lets hope it is just relocations like one of the posts stated otherwise there will be even more forclosures. I hope if some did lose thier jobs they will be able to find something else. My husband is a construction foreman and has been laid-off since Dec. it really sucks..

Wow, My Brother in-law works there in sales, and he made very good money last year. It would be an insult for him to take a $12 an hour position. I haven't heard any news from the family, but I bet we will within the next few days. I, too, thought Apple was doing well.
$12 per hour if BETTER then $0 per hour.

So 1st off all the "would you" comment is pretty smart of you, I don't think anyone enjoys a call to India. Would you enjoy that?

Austin is that one step to India for Apple.

Tough business decision to terminate Elk grove employees because its easier and more efficient to run 1 place in Austin. Efficient means pay less for sure. Biggest reason.

Whether you made 50 or 100k it didnt matter I think, it was still evident.

I can go on but nvm I have to update my resume.

Good luck

They are doing well. They are moving the tele sales center to Texas which is a lot friendlier towards business. I fully expect the migration to continue until there's nothing left in California.

While you may be right on one forefront here, you are missing a bigger picture regarding free trade (generally supported by republicans.) Which grants corporations access to exploit other nations population, tear down their forests, pollute their air and water when these coporations build big slave wage factories to serve our "service industry economy." Just another aspect of the Imperialistic standards seen from outside the United States.
Dustin,
Free trade is supported by both Dems and Republicans. Bill Clinton was the greatest cheerleader for NAFTA, remember?
The only deforestation going on right now is in the Amazon and the Yankees have nothing to do with it, sorry. One word in your post says it all. "Imperialistic" You must be reading the Communist Manifesto, is your Che Guevara T- Shirt clean and ready to wear to the next proletariat demonstration.

This is true, however, If you've built your life around a higher salary, then paying bills, mortgage etc. may be hard to do.

Don't forget also, that we also want our stock portfolios/retirement plans to grow as much as possible. Thus, WE ARE the corporations. IF you dont' think so, just look into what stocks are in your mutual fund packages.

If you think Apple or other businesses are bad, just start your own business. You can decide to pay workers more than necessary--good luck with meeting payroll!

*hands everyone a jump to conclusions mat*
This is what happens when people comment on something with no research or hell reading the article. The amount of sales jobs that were relocated is a fraction of the amount of employees in that one building. In elk grove there are 4 buildings A-D. The majority of building D is support, reorganizing sales to Austin is simple logic. They were given three choices relocate, apply for another position in Apple or a severance package. Austin and Elk grove are the two main call centers in the US. Saying it's one step from India is simply ignorance. Clearly no one here has ever had to call for support or been an Apple customer for long, or driven down Laguna blvd.. I've only called them a few times and I know this. Remember kids, research before participating in a debate.
