I voted for the 1988 State Champion Football Team!!! One of the greatest moments ever at HHS. I almost forgot about Mr. Cooper falling off the stage. There's a big LOL.

I put my vote with the 1988 State Champion Football Team too. What a ride!
The Speech team going back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to.....is really an amazing feat. If I were from TR-S I would probably vote for the game that ended the streak for FCSH. I have never seen so many people get behind one small school. Not because they liked TR-S but because of how bad they wanted SH to lose. That would have gotten my voted if they could have capped it off with a title. |

PB & J basketball title. Can we stop calling it that? This was defiantly the best moment because it took two schools to work together to win the championship. TR-S was pretty good the year before and may have won the class D-2 championship by themselves in 2000. Humboldt was coming off a bad year. They had some quality players. Humboldt had the players the TR-S needed to succeed and TR-S had the player Humboldt needed to help the guys that were good. Another thing that sets this one apart is that it was won in class C-2 not class D. They also had to face a team that was undefeated that had played a C-2 only schedule and had defeated 2 legitimate class B schools.(by legitimate class B I don’t mean a class B school like Falls City, I mean a class B school like Beatrice).
Anyways this is about the greatest moment in HTRS/HHS/TR-S history so I'm guessing it doesn't have to be about sports since speech is in there. How about the school winning state mock trial. Other great moments that didn't get mentioned are the TR-S 1995 runner-up in Bball. Matt Mezger scoring 40 some points vs PC in the holiday tourney. Jim Gilbert scoring 56 touchdowns in a season. Matt Mezger breaking the school record for points in bball in 2000. The 2004 football team ending the losing streak of 25 games. Back to back conference titles in volleyball in 06 and 07. These weren’t the greatest moments but very good ones. |

(I hate the PB and J thing too, but i couldnt remember the year and knew i had to put it on my list.)

I forgot about Ryan Gottula winning the 1992 runner-up team title for TRS in state track. 3 first and 1 2nd place finish at the state track meet.

Thanks "great moments". Ryan Gottula was a heck of athlete.
I am sure everyone out there can add to the list. I remember Humboldt have a good boys 400 relay team - does anyone know if they won state? Charlie Baker, Dan Mayo, Terry McMann, and I don't remember who else (sorry) |

The year would be 2000 that HTRS won the state basketball championship. Too bad the program went straight down the tubes after that......

eric hunzeker was the 4th in the relay with terry, dan and charlie and yes, they did get first. and still holds the school record.

is it really a school record since that school is now consolidated? i thought htrs started their own records?(not trying to take anything away because that was a great relay)

School records started fresh when the school consolidated. HHS records are now history and can't be beat.

TRS had a pretty good fb team back in 85. Gilbert led them that year with over 2800 yards rushing on the season which broke the state rushing record. I believe they finished with only one loss on the season.
I would have to say the BB title before the cons. was the best moment. Each school had what the other needed and they came together nicely. The birth of HTRS you might say. |

TRS is right. Table rock had the superstar scorer, the superstar rebounder, and the superstar three point shooter. humboldt had the other 2 starters who were defensive specialists

what about the undefeated regular season in football this year? big step up from what weve been used to.

HEY!! We have 2 Donuts. 10 more and we'll have a dozen. LOL

The touchdown by a girl is impressive but wasn't it in a JV game? Not trying to take anything away from it but is was in a JV right or was it in a varsity game? Also what was the context of the TD? Was the game close? Did Humboldt win? Just would like more info about it.

the touchdown was scored aganist pawnee city. it was at the end of the game. the touchdown I think was enough to 45 the opponent

1 The touchdown did end the Varsity game by 45 point rule against pawnee city in 1991. It was the first (and to date) only TOUCHDOWN by female in the state. 5 yard pass. I am more proud of the 20 yards i rushed for on the previous two plays. I am also more proud of the three touchdown passes I caught the next year playing JV ball. One was a thirty yard pass against sacred heart. One thing I have always said, there will be someone else who comes around and "breaks the female scoring record" but I will always be the first one to do it. (i voted for the 88 championship) tj |

are you sure the cardinals 45 pt PC. i didn't think Humboldt was any good in 91. well who didn't 45 PC in the 90's. didn't you play end, the coaches really wanted you to score. did you score after the game too.
