Are there any churches or other hosting free Thanksgiving dinners for those that can't afford to have their own?

With all the welfare and food stamps I don't see how people can't afford to by a little turkey and potatoes

Think about kids before you make those comments. They are the ones I worry about

There are people out there that fall 'between the cracks' and do not qualify for assistance but yet they struggle to make ends meet. Obviously from your comment you must not have any worries about that. So, try being THANKFUL and not condemning those out there who truly do deserve a helping hand by lumping them in with those that abuse the system. There are also elderly people and others who have no one to spend the Holiday with and community dinners are a blessing to them. There are people too ill to be able to cook and a home delivered Thanksgiving meal makes their Holiday feel good. Count your blessings in your life and be thankful to God that you are not facing these same challenges. Have a Happy & Blessed Thanksgiving!

Actually I'm very thankful and thank god everyday for blessing me and my family with all that we have. Thanks for your input though!:)

I just moved out here from California, and have no family here. Instead of staying home and feeling sorry for myself, I would like to volunteer my help if anyone knows of a church holding thanks giving dinners in OKC and Moore area?

You thank God, but with the same tongue condemn others?
Jesus loves everyone.

Get out and get a job. Am sick of those wanting handouts when there are jobs literally everywhere. It is that time of the year when so many just sit back and expect. Names on every list for freebies and ending up with a much better Holiday season than those of us that work and pay out taxes so the majority of this country can be given handouts. So, get a job and feed your family. You are the Obamaites that are ruining this country. So, Happy Thanksgiving to all of you Americans who work and provide for your family ( and for the lazies, too)

Like I said above- you cannot lump everyone who needs assistance into the realm of ' being lazy' or 'wanting a handout'. I have never used any of these services and have always worked. And, I have struggled financially through many a Holiday. But, I am glad these things exist for those who truly deserve and need it. Not everyone is a leech.

I was just wondering if there is any churches or place that is doing a free thanksgiving dinner in Elk City. My fiancee and me are broke and have been trying to get food stamps oon top of working so we can eat, but no luck yet....so I was wondering if there was a dinner by any chance. And if by any chance also if anyone knows of a place we can get some food that will help a lot. Have a thankful and blessed day.

The Catholic Church has a food bank on Tuesdays and we have a place called Help. I'm not sure where Help is located but they could tell ya at the Catholic Church. I'm not sure about any Thanksgiving dinners today, maybe you could call the police dept and ask?

HELP, Inc. is a good one and most churches will help with food too. Keep an eye on the local paper as they will give out Christmas Baskets soon.(not sure what the qualifications are for any of them but you can see) Good luck Wondering I hope things get better for you soon! I have never known what it feels like to not have food and can not imagine what a struggle that must be. Will keep you in my prayers!

The family care center at the old armory has a food bank and anything else you need. Elk city is blessed to have such a place.
