Dan Gambil was campaigning in the Pit Stop bar last Monday night. He is running for city council. Gave me a card with his picture on it and asked me to register to vote. I went to the bar to play pool, not be slammed with political bull $hit. Isn't he the religious one that put something in the paper about Daniel and the Lions from the bible? Bibles and bars. Must be pretty bad off if he is recruiting votes from a bar.

Well I doubt if this Patterson guy will be campaigning at a bar. But it's not so strange for Gambil, I understand he has some questionable morals to begin with.

Ever get that feeling that all of these comments are from the same person. What is wrong with him campaigning at a bar? Was he hammered drunk and driving? Probably not. Do bar patrons not vote? Maybe some of his wild ideas are just what the city needs. We have some great council members already. I doubt that they would "be confused" by any of his wild ideas. Maybe I'm wrong but you come off as his competition, just trying to bash him. Then again I did see him at the Kiwanis Kids carnival. That must make him crazy.

Hey Hot Rod you play pool for money? We probably need to make a swing through Elk City if it's booming again. Let the green be seen.

Sounds to me like the"other" candidate is stalking his opponent. You can campaign anywhere you like. Are there not voters in every establishment? At least he us showing us that he is not above talking to people from all walks of life. Not pretending to be a "high and mighty" politician that would make others feel he is unapproachable. He is a very caring person, who treats everyone the same. You people need to play " fair". May the best man win!

I am a single guy from Ohio just down here working because there are no jobs in Ohio. The dude came up to me and started campaigning. I haven't made any other comments by any other name which is my nickname here. He was drinking a beer, so was I. Campaigning in a bar is pretty stupid. No one goes there for preaching or politics. And drinking and driving anywhere is stupid. At least I had a designated driver. I think he was alone.

No I don't I was bored in my motel room and we went down to see if anything was going on. Didn't look like you would have much competition there though.

So I take it you know both candidates? Or are you just friends with the one?

So if you are not from here, why bother posting on topix, about someone u don't even know? Sounds a little fishy to me. Are we supposed to judge you for being in a bar? This site is nothing but a trashy, gossip column.

Topic in my home town is not like it is here. I simply stated I didn't want to be bothered with politics in a bar. This dude approached me, not vice versa. You attacked me. If this site is so trashy why are YOU on here?

Sounds like you got a personal thing for this dude. Are you a bored little housewife and he knocked on your door or what? You are the only one getting upset here honey! Get over yourself. I made a statement YOU took it over the line. I got no beef with this dude but where I come from politics and bars don't mix.

Come on hotrod you were in a bar. Does that make you a little out there? Would you have had the same sentiment if he approached you at Walmart? All you had to do was tell him you wasn't interested and walk away but to come to a gossip site to start slandering this guy shows your standard of ethics. And as for the other guy running I have been in social functions where he is at with a drink in his hand. Doesn't make me think he is a bad guy either. I know Dan and he is a really nice man. Very caring of friends and family. What I hate is this site. You say that topix's where you live is different than this one but it sure didn't take you long to get the hang of this one did it?

Really you guys? There were people killed in earthquakes and tsunamis and there were dozens of fires today in Oklahoma. Let's all just live and let live.

I have met Dan a few times and I think he is a nice guy, but I also don't understand his motives for running. When we met, he told me he had only been in Oklahoma for a few months before he ran against Walker, he lost and then went back to Iraq. It sounded like he hadn't been back in Oklahoma long before he took up this election. It just seemed to me like he was really motivated to hold an official office, which one didn't matter. He seemed like a nice guy, but I don't know how genuine he is.

Did you change your name. Lol. Yes I would have had the same reaction in Wal Mart. I TOLD the dude I wasn't interested and I was just sitting there minding my own business so he should have walked away. I was nice till he started trying to get me to fill out a form to vote. He was persistent and I did walk away. I don't give a dam about your local politics but I do give a dam when some dude I do not know tries to cram it down my throat and starts asking for my personal info then says he will deliver it to the voting office so I don't have to. He isn't entitled to my info. Now if you love crazed ladies will excuse me I have a job in the morning at 3am. Some of us have to work for a living.

Speaking of jobs, does Dan have one? I was really confused about that when we spoke.

Not at this time. He worked several years in Iraq doing a civilian job for the armed services. Pays very well. Now he helps his grandmother with all her rental property. But, I am courious why you would think that has any bearing on him running for the position? For all we know he may have won the lottery. He is self sufficient so that is all that matters.
