I live out at eastland addition and I have 2 girls. One who is 7yr old and has a friend 2 houses down, and both girls have those pink little electric scooters. They like to ride around the neighborhood, but people drive through here like its main st.I am so sick of it. Wish they would put speed bumps in.There are several kids at play signs that are just ignored. There is also at least 3 police officers that live over here but that doesn't do any good either.Any advise?

i would be going to the police station or city hall to ask about signs and gettin some tag numbers. you could even go to genes tag and ask about the 25 keep kids alive or something and put in your yard. that scares me since those little girls got hit on the scooter a couple years ago and it killed her over by b street... speak up! dont be shy, your kids play there.

I know what you mean about the accident that happened a couple of yr. ago that is always in the back of my mind. The cars drive by so fast I can't read the tag numbers and its a ton of cars that drive fast.I'm constantly screaming slow down but they don't here me.I will call both places tomorrow but if they don't take any action then what? There is a slow children at play sign on every street over here but they are ignored.

Start taking pictures of the speeders. It will make them nervous and hopefully slow them down. Even better video tape them driving recklessly around the neighborhood. They'll get the idea. Hope this suggestion helps.

city hall needs to address this 25 mph is to fast on side streets for kids. especially now that school is out, and you have no side walks for them to even walk on much less ride on raise hell moms get together and make noise make your tax dollars work for you

watch your kids. Don't let them run wild through out the neighborhood and watch them when they ride the scooters. If you don't and something happens it's just as much your fault as the drivers

I called the police department today and they sent over a police officer to patrol the neighborhood and while he was driving around people did slow down but as soon as he left they went to driving fast again!!!!!

I totally agree with you 25 mph could do some serious damage to kids on a bike or just kids walking. I personally think 15 mph is a good speed through neighborhoods. I still wish I could get some speed bumps put in.

A big problem is teenagers. If you are a parent of a teenager please tell them to slow down while driving through neighborhoods. I have also noticed grown women driving fast through here because they are either texting or on their cell phone!!!!!!!

do you realize it is illegal for your kids to be driving the electric scooters on the streets? there is a reason for that - streets are for cars not kids! i agree that people shouldnt drive fast and wreckless in residential neighborhoods, but its also the parents' responsibility to keep children out of the streets.

AS FAR AS THE ELECTRIC SCOOTERS, IDK WHAT THE LAW STATES, BUT THAT ISNT EVEN THE ISSUE HERE. WHERE EXACTLY ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO RIDE THEIR BIKES, BRANIAC? AROUND IN A SMALL CIRCLE IN THE FRONTYARD? GET REAL! GOOD, RESPONSIBLE PARENTS RECOGNIZE THAT THEY HAVE TO GIVE THEIR CHILDREN SOME SMALL FREEDOMS AND INDEPENDENCE. AND THERES ABSOLUTELY NO REASON WHY A CHILD SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO RIDE HER BIKE UP AND DOWN THE STREET SHE LIVES ON, SAFELY, WITH ME SUPERVISING FROM MY FRONT YARD.

well gotta say after reading your comment you must have the little fat kids that sit in front of the tv all day stuffing there faces and dont believe in fresh air and exercise when you leave your house drive to a residential neighbor and watch, most of the houses have a little to no yard and residential streets are where the kids play, out in the open were moms and dads can hear and see them, and if you can read it did say there are 3 officers that live in this residential spot, so lady what you doing accusing city police of not doing there job,had this been a problem i would think that one of them would be knocking on the doors, why is there always a idiot that offers stupidity and not a legitimate comment. you enjoy your evening

First of all I don't know if the scooters are illegal, but that is not the point. My daughter rarely rides it because I won't let her unless I'm outside watching her.So if kids aren't aloud to be in the street than where is my daughter suppose to ride her bike? In the grass? And why are ther like 5 signs that say 20mph children at play? Because this is a residential street. There is nothing over here but houses.Kids should be able to play outside it is good for them.Thats whats wrong with kids today their spoiled brats with computers, cell phones, nintendo games,ipods,...etc What happend to playing ouside, getting fresh air, and riding bikes. Its people like you with stupid comments!!!!

I see these little girls driving all day long on Willow and Magnolia and no parent is in their front yard at all times watching them. Yes, children should play outside, but not on scooters that are illegal on the streets. We all have an alley behind our houses. In the good old days, we just played....there were not scooters. Some children in this neighborhood were fined not to long ago for riding ATV's in the street. I think the scooters fall in this catagory.

Hello, Mommie of 2
I see your kids playing in the street everyday and 1/2 the night...AND no adults are to be seen..
Thank you Elk Citian...
Kids should NOT be playing in ANY street..period...
I live here...I don't recall signs that say..."Kids at Play"..I will look harder next time!! And even if there were, that does NOT give you the right to let your children be in the street...I know a teenager that drove a 4-wheeler through here and got a HUGE ticket..(NOT MY KID) but none the less, Any motorized vehicle should NOT be on the street... But..We do have Asphault Alleys..What about that one...I'm thinking of calling the police on you and your kids!!! We got alleys and front and back yards...Figure it out!! And did I mention Thank you Elk Citian!!!
