from keco website:
Tuesday, June 23, 2009--11:25 a.m.
The Elk City Police Department is asking for the public's help identifying the body of a woman found at Elk Lake yesterday afternoon.
The body is that of a white female, approximately 140 pounds, about 5'5" tall with brown, shoulder-length hair. She had a butterfly tattoo on her lower back and three dots on the back of the right shoulder. She was also wearing a wedding ring with three stones on her left hand, according to Detective Kenny Shirey with the Elk City Police Department.

Witnesses who were fishing at the lake contacted police just after 4:00 p.m. yesterday after seeing what they thought looked like a human body in the water. An officer with the Elk City Police Department arrived and retrieved the body.

•Police identify Elk City Lake homicide victim
•Woman was from Elk City

June 25, 2009
8:27 a.m.

Police, last night, made a positive identification on the body of a woman found in Elk City Lake Monday afternoon.
Angel Love Gilbreth, 27, police say, was the woman who was found by fishermen on the southwest side of the lake Monday just after 4 p.m. She had been in the water for several hours, and her body showed definite indications that she had been the victim of a homicide, according to police.
Police received the tip about the woman's identity Wednesday afternoon, but were waiting to release the information until the OSBI and/or the woman's family could positively identify her.
Gilbreth was from Elk City, detectives said this morning.
That positive identification occurred late Wednesday evening.
No one has been arrested yet, but detectives said this does move the case forward, and they are talking to someone at this time in connection with the woman's death.

The woman had been sexually abused, beaten and her throat cut. they are eyeballing her live in father of the baby as a suspect. He claims he witnessed someone in a black pickup driving slowly by her after she had gotten out of his vehicle.

Elk City is going to build a dam so they can drain the area where that lady was found. I was in the yesterdays new paper. We drove out to the lake and sure enough they have all read started building. Now don't take this as truth it is only hear say, but I heard it was going to cost $30,000.00 to do this and guess who will be paying for it. Guess there looking for the weapon that was use to kill her. But how do they know it was thrown in the water there, they could of taken it with them and tossed the weapon somewhere else. If I were a betting man, I say there not going to fine nothing, thus wasting tax payers money.

Finding nothing?? I doubt it! From what I have heard about the lake they may find MORE than they bargain for. You know rumor has always been there is more dead in that lake than fish. And for spending our tax money for this project...there is a lot worse tax money wasted each year right here in this town than this. If they can help find that low-life who did this to that woman more power to them.

actually, the paper said $75000. i think they should just drain the whole lake instead of wasting money on this temporary structure...its not like it generates revenue for them. i cant wait until they solve this and get a killer off the streets!

I can't wait to get this killer off the streets either but it will take time. I do have ideas to help Elk make more money, though.

Why don't they make more camp sites with electricity and a better bathroom. Get more campers in there and they won't have the problem of so much meanness at night. Did you know they don't even charge for the overnight camping. That is a way that Elk could make some money. There are a few people who take advantage of the FREE site and stay there all summer (or at tleast until someone reports them). They don't have to pay rent or untilities just live off the lake facilities that Elk provides. Oh yeah, and they also butte into other campers mealtime and that's how they eat. If this is going to happen why not charge for the overnight camping. There is an open area in the middle of the drive (where the dome is)that would be great to put additional campsites. You'd be surprised how much revenue that would generate. Could even make a new job for someone to be the local groundskeeper and live on site. Anyway, just some suggestions. Our family likes to camp at Elk Lake but it is usually full with the above mentioned people.(also a local RV salesman uses the camp site to try out their new rv units before they sell them) See how much money Elk could be bringing in?
