Actually, there are probably some people very qualified to do the job here locally and would probably do better due to being from here and will forever live here. But they didn't apply. But, the job is now filled and the thing to do is to get behind the guy and support him, work with him, welcome him and pray for him. It is very much scriptural that we pray for our leaders (yes even Obama) even if we do not agree with every thing (or anything) that the person does.

Dumas was booted from his position as Director of Operations in Fayetteville, AR a year or so ago. He was hired there about seven years earlier in public works and was promoted to Operations Director about a year before he was ousted. He was essentially the Mayor's administrative assistant.

He has applied for numerous openings during his period of unemployment, and was passed over by Shawnee, OK, Janesville, WI, Fort Smith, AR, and Brownwood, TX.

Though he has worked in various cities (San Angelo, Victoria, and Corpus Christi, TX, and Sioux City, IO) none of his positions was as the chief executive officer. He attended graduate classes at two different universities, but not does not have a Masters Degree in Public Administration.

This will be Dumas's first CEO job.

Sounds like they hired themselves another puppet on a string that will do what a certain few want him to do.

City Managers are like High School Football Coaches - they are hired to be fired. Let the countdown begin!

Maybe with a man from a totally different state in the position, the "good ol boy" system will finally be on the outs.

No he wasn't. Remember, we had an election and broke up the trio. I have not met Mr. Dumas but from what I read in the papers, he seems very organized and open.

Our last City Manager had a degree in horticulture. The previous manager was educated as a manager but he wouldn't play games. They were in the process of getting rid of him when he had his heart attack and died. The two previous managers were both local men who had worked for the city. One of them played their games, the other one would not. He was let go. Apparently Mr. Dumas is educated in this field. Hopefully, the powers that be will let him manage the city.
