Do you think 7 years is too big of an age difference to be thinking about having another child?

It's a trade off. I had all 4 of mine within 5 years. It was crazy when they were little, but now that they are bigger its not so bad. At seven your child is old enough to help with the baby, an it might be a good learning experience for big brother/sister. Good luck!!

I'm kind of worried about going through the whole bottle and diapers thing again. It's so easy now at 7 compared to a baby.

My brother and I are 7 years apart and it was great. We are friends now and I did a lot to help him when he was small.

Make sure you don't give your 7 year old to many responsibilities with a new sibling. The older child will enjoy it at first but if you make it part of his duties he may resent you years down the road.

There is a 13 year difference with my kids. It has been hard but well worth it!!!

Of course 7 is alot easier then a baby, most 7 year olds can pretty much take care of themselves, and are able to go fetch you things lol. If you dont want to do the diaper thing, or are unsure if you want another child. you could try doing foster care for awhile. I dont know much about the system here, but im sure they always need more parents, and usually older children are harder to place, everyone wants babies!

if you do decide to have another child after having just one for so long, make sure the 7 year old is included on everything, ask them how they would feel about a new baby. It seems things usually swing to one extreme or the other when there is a big age gap, not just the usual on and off relationship between siblings. either the older child will love the idea of having a younger sibling, or they seem to hate/resent them. Good luck in whatever you decide.

The main problem with the whole diaper/bottle thing is that I work full-time 10 hours days. I leave in the morning and I rarely get home from work before 6:30. I don't think I have the time or energy to raise another child from an infant, but my husband wants to have a baby later on.(He is not my child's father. He has 2 kids from a previous relationship that he is rarely aloud to see.)

Seems to me this is something you should discuss with your spouse, not a bunch of strangers.

So you automatically assume I'm a man? Have you seen some of the "mothers" in this town? You have no women in your family to discuss with? You'd take advice from liars, thieves, and con artists? Seems you already know the answer, you just need reassurance in your reasoning to tell your husband you value complete strangers opinions over his desires.

Well who are you to say she shouldn't be asking. All she wanted to know is what people though about the age gap. Simple and nothing that needed to be construed as anything but that. I don't understand why people are so mean to one another.
Anyway, my sister and I are 10 years apart and my brother and I are 7 years apart, with the oldest and youngest being 17 years apart. We get along fine. It was less stress on my mother, than having 3 kids all under 10, but each to their own. It's really about you and if you feel like you can handle it.
There's my input and there's nothing rude (or meant to be rude) in it!
