family video sucks!!!

Every movie I get from there skips the whole time. Especially the older ones, but even the new releases skip. I don't get what the deal is, first they run every other movie place out of town, then they decide not to care anymore? I never had problems like this with the other places. Either their not cleaning them when they get em in or they just don't care enough to replace them when needed. Will shop at netflix or redbox from now on.

I had a problem with the same thing. I now DEMAND that they clean and resurface EVERY movie I rent from them. They had no problem with it once I explained my problem.

movies skip every time!..what a rip off!..and they dont refund your money either they offer to clean it. redbox is much better.

It happens at every movie rental place. Even from Redbox or Blockbuster. I've even received one from Netflix once and it wouldn't play. It doesn't matter how many times you clean a DVD, or CD for that matter, they do not last forever. With many, many, many people handling them, a lot of them don't get handled properly! Excess cleaning of them can even ruin them. One problem I notice regularly is the fact people will set the disc UPSIDE DOWN instead of FACE DOWN like it should be. That drives me crazy. It will end up with dust and crap all over them and yes dust will scratch them! Catch the manager there and complain. I've pointed out several that I returned and they either cleaned them again, or helped me find another disc that wasn't so bad. If they couldn't, I ended up with a free rental. Family Video is pretty good about going out of their way to keep their customers happy. If you have a late fee, they don't make you pay it all up front plus let you still rent and pay the lateness until its paid. OR they will pay half or all of it themselves. What other video company dies that??? They do replace their stock frequently. Quit complaining and TALK to them about. I'm pretty sure they will be happy to help you! If you can't be satisfied, then get a Netflix account and watch them on your computer or game console.$8 a month is good for unlimited rentals through them but they take longer to get new releases out. Good luck.

I rented 5 movies the other evening and so far 2 out of 3 haven't worked. Completely ridiculous! I understand movies are going to get scratched, but I have never rented this many scratched movies from any other rental place??? Are their movies a cheaper quality to begin with?

They don't replace a disc until 3 people have complained that it won't play even after it's been cleaned. So basically it takes 6 trips between customers to Family Video - 3 trips for them each to get the disc cleaned, and then 3 trips for them to complain about it not working still - before they will do anything about that disc. If people don't complain, they just keep circulating the scratched movies around. That's why there are now so many bad discs there.

This evening when I got to Family Video a SUV with no handicap markings was parked in the handicapped spot. I checked it out and went into the store. I told the clerk the taller of the two girls working who had a white stripe down the left side of her hair that she needed to call the Elk City Police Dept and report it all she did was look at me then look at the car then just ignored it. I went ahead and got my Video and then paid for it she still had done nothing. I went outside and looked the SUV over again and no handicapped markings so I myself called the Elk City PD and turned it in. The Only thing I could see in this car was an Application for food stamps but they had enough money for movies??? I then decided to pull over to the side and see just who was in this car. Out came a slightly heavy Spanish woman her husband and 2 children all were filthy dirty and NO ONE was handicapped. Is this the way you train your help? To ignore laws and turn your head when someone takes a parking space of someone that can barely fend for themselves? The clerk acted shameful and should be disciplined for not calling it in. I can’t believe your store condones this kind of action.
