I know the person that bought the liquor license for EW James so doubt it will be a liquor store of any kind since there are not licenses to buy.

The license is issued to an entity or a person, not to an address. The person or business who bought the license does not have to operate from the same address as EW James.

There are several scenarios that could be in play.
The owner of the building is wanting to sell, but is actively seeking someone to lease it in order to have it occupied. Makes it more attractive for a potential buyer. Generates money for the owner until it sells.
Liquor Barn may even buy it, but hasn't yet.
Liquor Barn already has a liquor license in Kentucky. It is a matter of getting a city license. Not that difficult when you already have the state license.

Wrong. There are a limited number of liquor licenses in the city. All are issued by the state of ky. All are taken. The city license only comes into play if the state issues a license.

Liquor barn would have to buy a license from an existing license holder.

they sold the rights to it. To someone that is not liquor barn. Liquor barn will have to buy a license from someone to come to etown.

The liquor license is sold but the building is not and Liquor Barn did not buy the license. You have to already have a site available before you can purchase a liquor license, and as of now it would have to be an existing license because they aren't issuing any more for VG, Etown or Radcliff.

As long as you aren't in a dry county what is the problem? We have several Liquor Barns in Louisville and I never even go in them. You have a Sam's Club. Doesn't Sam's sell booze? No one's going to beat Sam's prices and you may not have to be a member to buy from them.

Liquor Barn bought Chicken Coop/Kings Liquor License.

Liquor Barn was awarded a package store license for Elizabethtown on July 3, 2014.

Liquor Barn is NOT going where Office Depot is.

Building is still for sale/lease.

As of now, Liquor Barn will remodel Chicken Coop/Kings/Former Lees and reopen as a Liquor Barn Express.

Liquor Barn could open a bigger location if Liquor Barn Express does well.

The Liquor Barns in Louisville do not have the best prices for hard liquor. I have found that Costco is very affordable. Liquor Barn will have everything you want but I'm not seeing any "deals" that I can't find at Walgreen's. I'm dead serious!
