This is really something you should ask your pharmacist or doctor. Depression is not something to play around with.

i cant tell you how long it takes for lexapro to work, but i can tell you how long depression last......as long as you let it. depression last for a season, if you keep fighting and keep moving in a foward direction, these awkward and empty thoughts fade away eventually. if you move foward and think toward,it goes away. it might come back, but then you move foward and think ahead again! there is soooooo much majic to life, and being alive in general, see it this way.

No idea. I've had severe depression, buy found recently that exercise seriously helps. I'm overweight by 20lbs, so it's not related to that. Exercise is a natural antidepressant. I still have good days and bad days. Eliminate stress and negativity as much as possible. Try yoga and hiking if you love nature like me. Above all eat as healthy as possible with lots of water. I couldn't afford meds and honestly just don't trust random chemicals in my body. No matter what you are not alone. There is always someone there, just hard to see with a veil of depression. Ignore the idiots saying suicide. Find others with depression and get help together. Sometimes friendship and love is the best cure. Good luck!

I have mild anxiety and depression issues, the doc put me on lexapro 10mg a year ago. It took a week or two to get into my system and since then i have been much much better!! I was a little nauseated at first and had headaches and was really tired the first couple of weeks. The lexapro is wonderful and has very few side effects. You should begin to feel better after a couple of weeks, if there are circumstances that are causing the depression that you can fix, fix them and that will make it even better. And like the other poster said, exercise. It works miracles also. If you can't see big improvement on the lexapro within a couple of weeks you may need something stronger, just keep check on it and Good luck.

please, i hope you dont think i was being insensitive with my comments. i was just trying to offer a non medicated solution. i have suffered from depression and anxiety since i was about ten years old,im almost forty now. i have dealt with it on my own,and without medication. i am in no way saying this works for everyone, but i wanted to offer my opinion. i do understand how you feel.
