I kind of liked the idea of being able to get discount stuff in etown...almost like a salvage store (exactly like one i guess). I have been to Greyson's a few times...I do like the idea of "trying it before you buy it" and being able to open the boxes and make sure everything is there. Here is what i DO NOT like...I bought one of those Digital Photo Key Chains. Packages have never been opened...plus you have to charge it 7 hours before downloading pics so it's not like you can do that at the store. Anyways, bought it for $15 at Greyson's, put lots of time into downloading pics to computer, then moving from one location to the photo finder for the keychain, etc etc etc. It was all charged up, had 43 great pics on it, it's a gift for my mom for Christmas...here it is Dec. 23....and the dang thing has a defect...it will not hold a charge! Even called technical support...it is just a defect there is nothing you can do about it except....get your money back. Oh yeah, don't forget...Greyson's has a NO REFUND POLICY! Ain't that convenient for them? I have a friend who bought a trampoline and there was a part missing....THE NET to the safety enclosure! She paid like $50 for the enclosure alone then had to pay over $50 just to order the net off the internet! If you go there.....PLUG IT IN...ADD BATTERIES...OPEN IT UP! Heck i bought a lazy susan...it seemed to have all the original packaging, all taped up nice with the labels, etc., only cost $3, but when i got it home it had a whole leg missing..TRASH!!! Think I will go by there and see if they have an EXCHANGE policy....might just let me get another DEFECTIVE one!

Always someone wanting something for nothing
They are a SALVAGE store. maybe you're not familiar with salvage stores, but this is what they are. Basically you take your chances. They have no way of knowing if the stuff they get works. Because they have bought it at a discount as salvage or damaged merchandise, they can not provide a guarantee to you.
How in the heck could someone not realize that a TRAMPOLINE SAFETY NET was missing?
If you want to pay a highly reduced price for something, you need to be prepared for highly reduced value. Many items are not defective, however, many are. That's the nature of that type of store. If you want a guarantee, pay full price somewhere so you can get a guarantee.

actually...the keychain was at two other stores...rose's and big lots for the same price and for $5 more...not much of a discount, plus you can return it at those stores. i get what you are saying about it being a salvage....people who can't afford the finer things go to salvage stores to save a few bucks...and then end up getting screwed over....i was looking for a bargain and thought i found a good one. had it been someone who cannot afford nice things and this was something they relied on as a gift because it was all they could afford, that would suck!$15 for just thrown away, for most people, is never a good thing...especially not with today's economy. guess my main point is to let people know that things that seem okay to buy there turn out not to be okay after all....it is what it is...JUNK! i am not the only person ever to be screwed over and once it continues to happen, greyson's will be gone just like every other store that has ever been in that spot. maybe if they had a return policy on certain things...things that you cannot "try before you buy". I will just eat my $15 this time but i hope this post makes the public aware enough to think before stepping into Greyson's Weekend Store. ps. interesting...i am sorry for having offended you with my obvious stupidity regarding the definition of a SALVAGE store.

correction to last post....should say "that would suck,$15 just thrown away...."

addition....before you comment, i should let you know that i did not see them at rose's and big lots until a few weeks after i bought the first one at Greyson's.

They have nothing but a bunch of JUNK. After Christmas they will be gone. That is after they have ripped every body off. Salvage store or not all the pieces to the merchandise should be in the box.

I've bought quite a few things from there. Didn't get ripped off. The difference is that I'm smart enough to ask if I can open the package and try something BEFORE I buy it. They know they are a salvage store and allow you to open boxes and make sure what you need is there. If it's something that I can't check out before I buy it, I go somewhere that offers a WARRANTY!!!!!!

Not their fault if you don't know how to look in a box. Go to the register next time and say "Can I open this to make sure all of the parts are there?" They will say "Sure" and help you open it, check it out and tape it back up so you don't lose the parts you just made sure are there.

It's not rocket science. Salvage store = check inside packages. You can't bitch here because you weren't smart enough to see if something works of if all of the parts are there BEFORE buying it from a salvage store. Sometimes I wonder how some people function in society.?????!!!!

They have signs everywhere saying no returns and saying to test everything out before u buy it. They also have a table full of batteries and power outlets so that u can try things out before u buy them. This is a great store and u never know what u will find in there. You just have to be smarter than what u are working with.

maybe you should read the original message again...it was a DIGITAL PHOTO KEYCHAIN that you have to charge BY PLUGGING INTO A COMPUTER for atleast 7 OR 8 HOURS before adding pictures to it. IT WAS AN UNOPENED PACKAGE...THE KIND IN HARD PLASTIC...AND IT WAS DEFECTIVE. I have noticed that they do have "DEFECTIVE" stickers on DEFECTIVE items. THEY DID NOT HAVE A DEFECTIVE STICKER ON THIS ITEM. I DO UNDERSTAND THAT THEY ARE A SALVAGE STORE, SO I DO UNDERSTAND THAT PARTS WILL BE MISSING, THINGS WILL BE BENT, HELL, ALMOST ALL OF THEIR MEDICINES ARE EXPIRED AND/OR OPENED WITH NO SAFETY SEAL AND EVEN SEVERAL BOTTLES WITH SEVERAL PILLS MISSING....THE POINT OF THEIR STORE IS TO SELL DENTED UP AND OUT OF DATE ITEMS AT A CHEAP PRICE. I UNDERSTAND THEY HAVE A NO RETURN AND NO REFUND POLICY. I UNDERSTAND THAT THEY ALLOW YOU TO OPEN BOXES, COUNT PARTS, LOOK AT THE PRODUCT, TRY IT BEFORE YOU BUY IT, ETC. ALL I AM SAYING TO THE PUBLIC IS BEWARE BECAUSE LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING!!!! BUY WHAT YOU KNOW AND CAN SEE IS OKAY...DO NOT BUY THINGS THERE THAT YOU WOULD ASSUME IS OKAY B/C ITS IN A HARD PLASTIC ORIGINAL PACKAGE WITH NO SIGNS OF OBSTRUCTION OR DAMAGE. MORE THAN LIKELY IT IS CRAP. I EVEN BOUGHT A PACK OF BLANK DVD R'S AND HALF OF THEM ARE CRAP...DEFECTIVE ITEMS NOT MARKED DEFECTIVE AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE.

ALL I'M SAYING IS YOU CANNOT CHECK ALL THE ITEMS THERE TO SEE IF THEY WORK...SO PLEASE STOP COMING BACK WITH "WELL, IT SAYS TO TRY IT BEFORE YOU BUY IT"

I LOVE going to this store- and how stupid can you be to be mad when something is broke or not in box- its a salvage store which means they get stuff because its broken or there are missing parts or it has expired- DUH anyone with a brain can figure that out. If i need something that i have to worry about defects or whatever i will go to a store and pay full price just incase something does happen then i can take it back. Checkin stuff out before you buy is just something to expect when you walk into this store even checking the dates to see if its expired. If your not happy with the store or something u bought thats ur own stupidity

I LOVE,LOVE this store and shop there every week. It saves me so much money. They have everything you need from Target and Sears. If I can't afford to take a chance on an item from there - I just don't buy it - simple as that. They are friendly and always remember me - I like that. Great Stuff - Great Store!!!

I discovered this store, Greysons, a few weeks ago and have been pleased with the purchases made there. Yes, I am also familiar with salvage stores and know the risks, so I check boxes, etc. With the first box (a set of drinking glasses) that I set at the checkout counter, I was asked if I had checked all the glasses. "Nice," I thought, "they are watching out for me." It doesn't hurt that I was able to buy 10 pieces of clothing (KMart quality shorts, shirts, etc.) for $1.99 each. The blender/processor combo was fun to unpack and try in the available outlet. It's worth the effort to spend some time looking...not a hurry-and-buy type of place.
