If there is a legal loop hole Al Rider can claim so as to be considered a legal Hardin County Resident since shifting his permanent homstead exemption status from Jefferson County to Hardin County in Feb. of this year 2010 and be elligible to qualify to run for public office then i would like to know what that loop hole is. One of the qualifications Al Rider fails to meet in my opinion is that he MUST be a legal resident for at least one year in the county or district PRIOR to running for any public-political office he or she wishes to obtain. The math says he should not be allowed to run for any office until Feb. 2011. If this is allowed to happen then look out for all employeers who have qualifications their potential employees are supposed to meet. Any employee denied a job based on failing to meet certain qualifications may have potential labor lawsuits against employeers because the qualifications may as well be thrown in the trash because if our own potential County Judge Exec. want-to-be seems to be allowed to side step certain qualifications and still is allowed to place their name on a ballot and may very well be able get away with it. i am not saying Al Rider does not have good criteria to be a Judge Exec. I am saying if you do not meet the qualifications set forth across this great state then you must withdraw or picture the message being sent to unemployeed people searching for jobs and some being told they do not meet a certain qualification. If it is ok for the County Judge Exec. to side step qualifications then all Hardin County Residents should be allowed the same treatment and have the Ethics Committee Attorneys' represent any employee that misses a job opportunity due to a lack of a certain qualification. Am I explaining myself clear enough to the people in this forum?

Al Rider has been a resident of this community for somewhere around 60 years. Everyone that is whining about his residency status really needs to get a life! Was that clear enough for you?

I think anyone who leaves the unemployment office in Etown after being told he or she does not qualify for any certain job should obtain a copy of the Kentucky Revised Statutes Regarding Qualifications regarding voting rights as well as the right and parameters to run for political office should go by Rider's business in Etown and see if Rider can help the average citizen step over/sidestep any job qualifications so they can be able to put food on their family's table. If Rider can sidestep then we all should be able to in my book. Look at it like this you have to be 21 to purchase alcohol legally in a bar. It is law and legally you must qualify by producing your driver's license etc. in order to legally make that purchase. You don't switch your permanent homstead exemption tax credit from one location to another and call in each event this is my permanent residence. If allowed to switch to Hardin county then his one year permanent residency status begins at the time of the switch. Get your self a copy of the Application for Homestead Exemption and read the fine print. You may then get back with me because what you are swearing to when you sign that application should be self explanatory to all.

Al Rider is only interisted in himself. He is running to keep the county government downtown. We need a building that has all the offices in it that is easy to access. Not dowwntown where no parking is availble and you have to go in every different direction if you have more than one thing to do. He wants to inconvient everyone in the county for personal reasons. It is the County government not the City Of Elizabetown . Look what the mess the City counsel is doing. With Judge Berry , we are in good shape compared with most.

I am not voting for Al Rider, because I would not vote for a democrat right now if my life depended on it, but to say that he is not a member of this community if ridiculous. I have known him my entire life, and he IS a member of this community, this is his home and always has been! If his residence was truly a concern of anyone that actually mattered, he would not be in the race... FACT

A business man in Etown yes. Trying to take advantage of a homstead exemption tax break and having to claim Jefferson County as his permanent or primary residence in order to receive his tax break, he has done that. At time of doing so he did not think of running 4 public office. When appling to run he states Hardin county is his permanent residency so as to qualify for the race. You can't have it both ways it would be nice but no you can not. Once he switched his homstead exemption status from a home he claimed on his Jefferson county Residence and back to Hardin County, he must have lived and claimed Hardin county as his permanent place of residency for at least one year prior to running 4 public office. Which will DISQUALIFY him in my opinion.

Don't care. Just so SOMEBODY resurfaces the roads in E'town/Hardin Co. They're awful and usually have to wait until election time to get anything done. Le'ts play a game. COUNT THE POTHOLES or DODGE THE CRACKS in the roads.

Wonder if I could be hired by Rider at his clothing store as a tailor even if I don't know how to sew a stitch. Classifying myself as a tailor brings certain qualifications to the table. Hope he never needs a qualified tailor in his shop any more. I will be watching for a vacancy so I can apply at his store. Think he will turn me away because I have no sewing qualifications? We shall wait and see.

That's actually pretty stupid. How does this have any bearing on his residence status?

I'm like that pavement post. I don't care if he lives in Hollywood as long as he resurfaces some of these god awful roads in hardin county and e'town. just watch the incumbents at the last second do that and everyone and their mother will vote them back in.
