I got up in severe pain one morning called my family dr and they told me to go to the ER.This has happened several times can't get into my family dr.and i'm sure it's happened to alote of people that they can't get into their family drs.And when i did go to the er i was in the waiting room for 5hrs in severe pain and when i did get back their in a room i waited another hour or so.And come to find out i had kidney stones and they said i would pass the stones cause they were small and i needed to see my family dr.It took me a week to get into my family dr.and he sent me to see a kidney dr.and he had to do sugery and he told me that the er.doctors tells all of his patients he sees that they will pass the stones, and thats not always so.Mine was to big to pass but hardin memorial drs.said i would pass them. That's the worst pain i have ever had and they treated me like i was just their wanting pain meds.I think that if i was wanting pain meds.that bad i would get them some place else instead of waiting for hours at HMH to get them. And I think that it's a shame that a person can't even get into their family drs.when they need to.And yes i do have medical insurance and i do pay for it.Someone needs to do something about all this issues at the er and the family drs.office.most of the family drs.are in with the hospital and they have something going on for the patients to go to the er.They get more money and they run all these test to get the insurance money.HMH needs to get some better drs.at the er.and they need to stop the madness on the nurses the way they treat the patients. They act like their better cause they work their, but their not no better. How would they want to be treated if they got sick and had to go to the er.
nothing worse than kidney stones. you just want to turn green and die. even my urologist sent me to the er to be admitted. didn't give me pain shot as i was driving. no paperwork. sat in the er for 4 hours. finally squalled out it hurt so bad. they took me back and i still laid in the bed forever. when the dr. showed up he was mad. but he doens't run the er. it's hired out to some louisville hospital. he took me and admitted me and i spent the night on morphine. wonderful drug and i guess i passed them, cause the next morning... no pain.. and he let me go home. damn the e r. check into it. i don't think hmh has anything to do with it.

Family physicians have you go straight to the ER because they don't want to fill out admission papers and make the necessary phone calls to insurance companies for precerts required if you are getting admitted. Which is actually more of an insurance issue because they require these calls or on-line forms that take a lot of staff time for something that is more than likely going to be approved anyways.

Yep, the insurance vampires add 40 percent in costs to the healthcare system. That's 40 percent that could be saved if doctors were allowed to work directly with patients.

The doctors that are opening up the new urgent care are not the owners of the previous Acute care. I don't know who actually owned it , but its not them. I'm sure the doctors felt the need for an urgent care center that was NOT under the clutches of HMH.... Some people have no desire to go anywhere that has the HMH name attached to it. I know I will never step foot on anything that is owned by them. I will gladly go to the new place when it opens !!!

I'm just wondering if any of you work at a hospital or have even the slightest education. People that come in with true symptoms wouldn't be sitting there eating potato chips and laughing with friends. There are some things that do physically cause you pain, but aren't life threatening. When a stomach virus has been going around you can bet the er will be flooded with people..but if its a virus, the most you can do is push iv fluids. I even witnessed a mother ask for tylenol for her infant because she had to buy cigarettes....the emergency room is for emergencies....not a note for work or free meds. Every er is crowded with people that aren't there for a true emergency. Unfortunately hmh sees a lot more because they don't turn anyone away. My suggestion would be to stop going to a place you dislike.

What are we suppose to do when your family dr.tells you to go to the ER.Cause they can't get you in their office for a week or so.But you know yourself that alote of the nurses treat some patients poorly and make you feel like you nothing.I have two sisters that are RNs and i know nurses go through alote to,but some needs to go have some training in how to treat their patients, and HMH is one that needs to be looked at in the ER.And some DRS.to.Learn how to treat patients fairly and if it wasn't for patients you all wouldn't have a job.

HMH needs to train it's nurses to cut the big drama. All about big drama and while on duty put the old personal life to the side. If they hook up as much as they say they do with the security guard, address it. Their nursing skills may be tops, but their professional skills are lacking. Human nature 101 is not a bunny class. I can tell you this, most of them would not last a minute working in a doctor's office. It would be hit the road, Jack. And then you have the small handful who are into the drama and don't pay attention to what they do and mess up and get fired. Drama left over from the night before and they are "just so tired".

Took my Mother to HMH ER for a heart attack. Walked in asked for EKG & handed insurance card & credit card for co-pays.
We were stopped by 300 pound woman wanting documents signed. The insurance card was more precious than my Mother's heart.
Demanded EKG, was told "She's at lunch"
My Rolex, keeps good time ,showed 47 minutes later some 19 year old rolls up with EKG cart talking to her "Baby Daddy" on cell phone.
I wrote complaint letter to Mr. Gray, waiting breathlessly to see what would be the; "excuse of the day". HMH letter told me after through review it has been determined that all response was within acceptable babble babble. I keep the letter as a trophy and to remind all my friends with any brains to keep a full tank of gas to get to the real Doctor's in Louisville!

My Mom went to HMH -ER in terrible pain, she was told that she was constipated and they were going to send her home, her Blood pressure dropped and they decided to keep her. She was there 22 hours before they finally decided that she was not consipated that something else was going on. Needless to say that 24 hours into her trip to HMH she died....with no answers from the Doctors. I do believe that she died of an abdominal anuryesema, but HMH was not qualified to diagnose it. They preformed CPR on her for 45 mins. as we stood there and watched the whole tramatic experience. They had taken her down for a CT scan and I do believe that she died on her way back to the room and they did not know it because her leads were not hooked up to her. No calls, No explanations No nothing!!! Her Family Physician(local) did not even come to check her out until 23 hours into her stay at HMH. All I can say is its only a short trip to Brooks Road on I-65 when you want quality healthcare. And yes my Dad did try to take her to Jewish but there was a wreck on 65 and the road was blocked. So many regrets!!!

They did not do an autopsy, they rushed us out as quick as they could. Trust me they covered there Butt's quickly!!! They made us leave before they would even call the funeral home.

Anyone who dies within 24 hours of admission to the hospital is an automatic coroner's case. The staff on the floor isn't even who contacts the funeral home, so how would you know if they'd called or not? People love to have something to complain and be irate about. Try asking a few questions before you post something as asinine as this.

You might think it sounds insane but it happened!! And they probably just missed the 24 hour law. I know I was there you were not. And yes the staff on that floor was the one who call the funeral home because we were the ones who gave them the information about who to call and they told us out of their mouths that they would not call until we left...now I do not know what they did to my mom after we left....I guess they were busy covering there tracks. I have the death certificate and you don't so it does tell if the coroners office was called or not nad what time the funeral home was called and by whom. And I am not complaining or being irate as you say, I am just giving my opinion about HMH. Hopefully you will never have to go through what me and my family went through at HMH, but if you do maybe you won't be so quick to judge on something you know nothing about. I am finished with this conversation because I have told my story and other people can make their own choice on their healthcare needs.
