We issue a call to traditional and strong men and women. It is time to unite! Those who would embrace their heritage, and revive the ancient Northern European ways stand with us!

Asatru is the ancient religion that is revived from the practice of Anglo-Saxons, Vikings, Celts, and other Germanic tribes.. It is the ethnic religion of the Northern European peoples.

We honor the gods of our ancestors, our past kin, and the spirits of the land. Odin, Thor, Frey, Freya. Names spoken to the beginning inhabitants of Europe. Gods who shaped us for thousands of years. They were there for your oldest ancestors, they can be there for us too, and bring us together!

"The young fir that falls and rots

Having neither needles nor bark,

So is the fate of the friendless man:

For what should he longer live?"

Havamal verse 50

Asatru is for families!

Asatru is for the folk. For the family minded. For the tribe and kinship. We see a world around us that glorifies murder and the using of others for self gain. We know the only way to combat that is to form close bonds and protect one another once again. The gods watch over and guide a strongly knit community. Strength comes in trust and honor, these virtues live with us still.

Asatru is about seeking virtue, not fear of sin!

Fear of sin and hell is a poison to the mind. It is negative reinforcement and it is NOT OUR WAY. We strive for virtue, honor, and loyalty. We know no Seven Deadly Sins, we LIVE and FORGE ourselves by Nin Noble Virtues. To be Asatru is to know temperance and prudence. Honor is stronger than guilt!

Asatru is a religion of action!

Celebrate living! The gods are not nothingness incarnate, the gods are within and around you. They are felt in the greatest moments of our lives, they guide us to our destiny. They spur us onward. Embrace them and become! We do not dictate how you see the gods. As long as you are good to your brothers, and love the spirit of the ancient ones, you are kin!

Asatru is for warriors and scholars. For mothers and grandmothers. Asatru is for any person seeking a life full of experience and bounty. Who want to restore the ancient traditions of the European peoples, and flourish in the great and beautiful wisdom of the gods, passed to us from our ancestors.

Whoever wants to learn about Asatru, and perhaps take their first steps on the path to Odin's light, please contact me. Our kindred wait with open arms, we welcome any who want to claim their spiritual birthright. The gods awaken. Be there with them.

Ignore the "think"er he has no idea what heathen theology is. The gods are with their children, no matter the continent. Men who want to become good, disciplined men will always be discouraged by the weak and ignorant. Hail Odin.

"For the old gods, after all, things came to an end long ago; and verily, they had a good gay godlike end. They did not end in a “twilight,” though this lie is told. Instead: one day they laughed themselves to death. That happened when the most godless word issued from one of the gods themselves—the word:“There is one god. Thou shalt have no other god before me!” An old grimbeard of a god, a jealous one, thus forgot himself. And then all the gods laughed and rocked on their chairs and cried,“Is not just this godlike that there are gods but no God?” He that has ears to hear, let him hear!”

And? You agree with this statement? Nietzsche romanticized the old gods, several times, but did not understand who they were or how the pagan heart.

Odinism existed in his time, but was a movement far removed from him, and not something that really gained notoriety until the 1930s.

Asatru is for the traditionally minded man. It is a revival of the essential roots of a people. It is not going anywhere. Get used to us now, you will be seeing more of us.

Never watched a full game of football in my life.

"Wild-eyed teabagger?" Not even sure what that meant. Though I suspect your are making a jibe about my sanity. Typical of do-nothing, critical people to make a person who is impassioned and driven out to be "crazy".

Because, you know, you are crazy if you care about anything other than your own personal desires...right?

Btw, they were recognized as gods LONG before the Vikings.

Yeah, I don't suspect you identify yourself as Tea Party, like ole Cracker does. The Tea Partiers love their "heritage" but they usually don't talk too much about Norse gods. And, please, don't get them started thinking they're vikings...their Founding Father costumes are bad enough!

If you are trying to say that Asatru are just a group of LARPers then you are going to be disappointed. The whole "I pledge my sword" thing is pretty much looked down upon in our communities. As a Godi of my own kindred I discourage it, though I do not discourage people who want to live in the kind of primitivist ways, where they farm and hunt their own food.

We are not an anachronism, we are a modern movement of true polytheists and theologians, something that is hard to mentally comprehend, I am sure, since the world for the last century or two has been either monotheist or anti-monotheist.

Cracker, I understand your concern, but you have to realize that the Christian in me is extinct, as I beleive it should be. I have been a non-christian for 10 years and Asatru for 5. I left the faith at a very young age(13).

It is true. Asatru does not answer why there is something rather than nothing, nor does it have answers about death. Mainly because thinking about these things is not a good way to spend your life. The gods enrich my life, here and now, and my communication with them is through the living world. When I walk outside and look at the wilderness that stretched before me, it is alive. It is an entity. It is not a creation, it is a being part of, yet still separate from myself. The trees are beings, not just lumber, their sole existence for my harvesting and utilization.
When I walk into the woods, it says nothing about hell or salvation or grace. It follows no commandments, though virtue and wisdom may help one traverse it better. The forest, the mountain, the sky. These are beings. They speak. They speak great and enigmatic prose.

When I die, I can only assume I succumb to that prose, yet leave my words and deeds behind for my children.

although i disagree, i understand the pagan philosophy. when i walk the woods i see a God of constant, solid truths. regardless, we can respect each other as people.

Does this religion embrace all races? I'm interested and disciplined. Striving always to be better. I am very traditional minded and conservative. Am I welcome even though I'm African American?
