My teenager attends CHHS and is having trouble with one of the teachers. The problem I'm having is so many of the students are asking questions, but the teacher is not helping. Her reply is "You should know this already!", or "look in your book and find the answer." I'm not sure how to deal with this. I don't want to call her and complain because it will make it harder on my child, if she singles her out. She goes over the math very quickly and doesn't want to help. I'm sorry, but she should not be a teacher. I'm not sure who to contact about this matter.

Not alot you can do there with the principal. Ortiz never does anything to the staff. All I can say is you better get used to it, because this will go on until your kid either gets out of that class, or the semester ends.

I would take care of the problem..don't let the class keep moving on and leave ur child in the dust. There are many ways u can help.. email the teacher or call the principle. If the teacher starts to treat ur child badly then I would have a meeting with the teacher or the teacher and the principle and tell them point blank. I always tell my kids to ask for help if they don't know something and if the teacher doesn't help then I'll take care of the problem..the teacher acts this way bcuz nobody says anything..think of what u want to say and go down there..good luck..

FYI 2008 CHHS Graduate....Mr. Ortiz is on active leave with the military and has been for a year or two. Isaccs is acting (and I use that term lightly) principal. Some of these teachers think they are ABOVE helping. COMPLAIN who else is going to stand up for your child. The No Child Left behind is a joke in some Hardin County Schools. And as far as meeting with some of these teachers, make sure that the counselor is with you.

I have a suggestion. Home school hook up with that damned old faith-based crap. That's a bunch of weirdos for you and you'd fit right in. If your retard has trouble learning, complain to God and form a group that yours didn't get all it needed to survive in the world. Yeah, faith-based. That's your answer.

They do act like they are above teaching because your professor in college is not going to stop class to make sure your teenager understands and gets the problems. High school is supposed to prepare you for college. Maybe you should have your teenager enroll for E.S.S(extended school services) for extra help, or ask the teacher questions, come in before class, and or after school to get some help. At this point, you should prepare your teenager to be able to do things on her own.

Why are you people so mean? There is no reason to be calling this child (even though they are in high school they are children) a retard? That is so inappropriate in so many ways. Some children have a difficult time with learning. I myself had a hard time with math and had to get help outside of school. Be nice. This could be your child. This parent was only kindly asking for help. If you want to be rude, go make fun of all the other ridiculous posts that are on this site.

WEll my opinion is the retard part comes in from whining to momma that the teacher won't answer my questions and I don't understand. Waaa Waaaa Waaaaa!!! What a frickin' cop out!!! You can act like a retard by your actions and not by a number measurement of your mind/brain. So that's not me being mean, it's me pointing out they went home and whined that no one was doing anything to help ME. No one cares about ME. ME, ME, ME... Probably too much self esteemed pumped up by an overprotective mommy who is acting like a retard.

Why don't you drag your lazy, skanky ass out of bed in the mornings one day a week and say like volunteer at the school. Surely you have enough sense to do something that would help those people out? Maybe you would find out more about your child who seems to come whinning to you and blubbering and you don't seem to try to help with anything. How about it? Got any free time? Or if you're too busy, what about at one of the sports events or work in a concession. I think you'd be surprised how much that would help your child to see your interest. Otherwise, you're raising another generation of "doug and windy whiners"!!!

The good Lord helps him who helps himself. How can you get as far as high school and not know some of the basics in math? Unless you are 1. dumb 2. didn't pay attention 3. Momma always took care of your bizness 4. doesn't matter, you're going to draw a check anyway 5. you have adhd (lol) 6. Teachers are God's helper.

Why did you bring religion into the discussion?

This - " The good Lord helps him who helps himself. "

And this - " Teachers are God's helper. "

Doesn't fit with this -

" How can you get as far as high school and not know some of the basics in math? Unless you are 1. dumb 2. didn't pay attention 3. Momma always took care of your bizness 4. doesn't matter, you're going to draw a check anyway 5. you have adhd (lol) "

I think you have ADHD... Or maybe you are just ReTArdED.

Have a nice day, And God bless.
