These companies no people like you are easy to take of advantage of. No job is a picnic, but you should have a say in the workplace without fear of reprisals.

Well, hello management! you must be the team to recruit? If you would tell the truth, maybe the lines would be longer at these job fairs. Word is out! Your slur about it's not a country club is exactly what is wrong with the attitude of the management plant. You hit the nail on the head by saying that. Thanks! Why don't you reward your long term workers with a 1 percet raise? That would be the icing on the cake after all the millions in profits you made. Come clean.
Not everyone is management on here. Les was just giving information that was correct. By the way, everyone looking for work, good luck to you and come to the job fairs when they are offered. Other companies also participate in them. I'm not management, unless the washer and dryer, and the vaccum and stove are my employees!

well it seems funny some of you would be spouting off about the job fairs. hmmmmm. but you're not management? hmmmmm. but you have an interest in management? hmmmmm. Just respect the worker for what they do and the loyality of staying with a company. any rewards offered for staying around? probably not. companies see you can get younger workers with less experience and pay less for the same job. here's your loyality.

What a bunch of babies, you gripe because someone tells someone about a job fair? You must have been dropped on the head as a child, ha ha!

Or, how about going to work, do your job and quit being a pain in the rear. This company doesn`t give hugs at the door, so quit expecting that to change. They are employer, we are employee, nothing more, nothing less.
I totally agree. We walked in to work, these people can walk out, and go flip burgers for the rest of their lives. We are grateful to have jobs, overtime and insurance. What kind of benefits does minimum wage give you? Nothing!

So, you all are complaining about having a decent job that you have to work overtime? You are pissed about a company that is doing so well that you need to work weekends? I know a lot of people that would love to have that opportunity, a lot of people lost their jobs in recent years. You work for a company that did all they could to prevent lay offs, even taking voluntary lay offs, and you are still mad? I work there, its not all roses, but I have job security. I know my check will be in the bank twice a month. Go ahead with your union talk, the grass always seems greener on the other side. I`ve seen both sides, theres not much difference. Yes, I work with a group that whines from 7am till 3 pm, every day, it gets old. They have complained so much, that even if I agreed with what they had to say, I still wouldn`t support them. If you don`t like it, walk out the door, better yet, don`t walk back through the door. I go there every day, by my own choice, so if I was to be mad at someone, I can only be mad at myself. Its only a job, not a country club like said before. Akebono is worried only about their bottom line, therefore I`m only worried about my bottom line. Ambrake is gone, and will never return.
Maybe Akebono will close their doors for good so none of us have to listen to their whining employees that have a good job, good benefits and lots more. Gosh, how can we not feel sorry for these poor people.:(

Zack, just by reading all your comments I bet your probably part of the good ole boys group or just a wanna be, you probably are one of the few who gets by with everything & try to put the blame on someone else just to make yourself look good, will karma will come around one of these days, so be careful what you do or say.

First I'm glad to have a job I'm glad that I make the money that I do. I've been at Akebono for 17 years and I really enjoy working here as much as I could enjoy working anywhere. No matter where you might work there will be people just trying to find fault. They are not to be confussed with people that are pointing out problems so that everyone can benifit.I feel that as of late many of my coworks are in the second group. True, no one is holding me here and I can leave if I choose to. Having said that I would like to fix some of the problems here. I don't want to leave. I have a lot invested here. Right or wrong I still like to think of this as my company.

The plant is a bad parent. The child wants the parent to love and care for them. I ain't gonna happen. You can't make a parent love a child. Have you ever had an animal where the mother will NOT accept the baby? This is the situation. Now those of you that want the child to move on and quit crying are much like social workers. Never seen one that really had the best interest in the child.

I`ve been told to watch what I say, but that won`t happen. Good ole boy?, not me. I just want to do my job and want the people around me to quit whining about EVERYTHING. Karma?, I don`t believe in it, that would only be possible if there were no God.

Is there some people who work harder, and better and get rewarded for that? YES
Is there a double standard? Yes, but the standard is set by each person, I may use my cell phone on the floor, but you might take an extra 5 on your breaks, or you may sneak a smoke while you think no one is looking. So, we are all guilty of having double standards. Its like sin, they aren`t ranked, a sin is still a sin.
Mistreatment? no, give me one example of someone being mistreated.
Conditions unbearable? Its a factory, dirty, hot, greasy and smelly. Unbearable it is not.
Management clueless? some are, but we have some employees who are also. If you have over 1000 workers, there will be some cluelessness in the mix.

thats funny. If you would read my posts, I never defend Akebono. I know its not the greatest job in the world. I`m just tired of all the whining, the conspiracy theories, the poor me syndrome. I choose to walk through those doors, I can only be mad at myself. I can guarantee you that while I`m there, I`m not acting like a little [email protected] and acting like the company is out to get me. Its a business, they are here to make money, the same reason I work there, to make money. So quit acting like its a daycare and everyone needs their noses and butts wiped every 5 minutes.

Double Standards-Yes-Someone gets fired for taking recyclables yet another doesnt even get stepped for using company property for their own gain and jeopardizing all our jobs in the process.

Special treatment-Yes,just look at who fishes, golfs or goes out drinking with the T/L's....

Mistreatment-thats an opinion

Conditions unbearable-some parts of the plant or warehouse can be considered "unbearable".

Management clueless-No most all know exactly what they are doing.Whether it is selling our product at a loss or promising OT reduction pr placing a note on the board about raises etc.

ANYONE who hasn't been to any of the meeting should go, it's not a union meeting, it's about all the things that have gone wrong in the past few years. I am shocked by the things I have heard & it breaks my heart to know that Ambrake/Akebono has sunk this low. This use to be a place where you were proud to let people know that you worked here & I am ashamed to know that we have turned into a place that loyal employees are treated as slaves & nothing more. Shame on the management for letting this get out of hand & hopefully some day we can get back to being the great company we use to take pride in.
