You get treated like a factory that has production you get paid bell to bell if you don't feel like working stay home don't want to have to pick up the slack of worthless temps anyway there are good ones there that are getting hired they just got their papers today. The work isn't hard if you feel your being slave driven try Dana out its ten times harder I know I've been there

been there done that as a FULL TIMER...found something better, less backbreaking, and paid alot more money. the person asked how to go about getting a job there...simply stated, altec rarely hires, and if they have already hired for the year, and the person asking didn't already have an application on file then the only way they can get into altec is through the temp agancy. and the fact is that altec does lead temps along and use them up until they are done with them, and most get sent on their way. I'm sorry that there are people stuck in altec and these other factories that have to break their backs and work their hind ends off for descent pay. I suggest that you get an education and find what is called a CAREER. It will be much more fulfilling and you just might have your health intact when you retire. But for those that enjoy factory work then I am glad that you found your calling. Let me know how you feel in lets say 40 years when you are old and broke down because the fact is that very few that are in these factories will ever move into leadership positions, and will feel the effects of factory work when they are old. Anywho, that's how to get into altec, hope everyone has a wonderful day..

My husband had an interview, had 15 years of welding experience and didn't get hired. It irritates the shit out of me that he has a perfect work record and didn't get the job. However, I do know some worthless shits they did hire....they will get no good work from these people. They hired a lot of good people, but also passed up a lot to hire people not worthy of a good paying job because they won't work for their money. Oh well, everything happens for a reason.

I need a good paying STABLE job. I guess Im asking too much lol. I cant afford to get on somewhere and risk being let go to start all over again. So you said I can apply at the actual company and wait for them to do hiring, instead of going temp? Ifr so thats what Ill do if not ill find something else. Ultimately im looking for somewhere that pays well and I will have the opportunity to move up, once I get my human resourses and business management degrees. Im willing to stick with the same company until I get my degrees but Ive always been told to get ur foot in the door somewhere, get ur degree, n then move up there. I sure as hell dont want to get my degrees and be walking blind to find a job. Thanks for the insight, ill just keep on looking and apply everywhere I guess.

altec only accepts applications during certain times, you can't just walk in and apply there. and as far as moving up, well those jobs are coveted by the one's already in those positions so if you think that you will go in and move up...not going to happen at altec. they may tell you that you can work on the line and work up but the best you will get is group leader, then maybe supervisor (if you are seriously lucky) but as one person said, they no longer hire quality individuals, they don't want people with their own minds and who is willing to use it. It was once a wonderful place to work many years ago, it used to be the very best place to work in Etown but that is no longer the case. If you are an ambitious person, I suggest looking for somewhere else, or just wait for altec to put an ad in the paper and let them string you along. Good luck to you, hope this helps.

It does, definately does. In that case Ill stick to what Ive got for now since thats exactly what Im doing now, and I already have the hours I want (8-5 Mon-Fri). I really appreciate your input beg.. I think Im going to look elsewhere. Maybe Fort Knox? LMAO I probably have a better chance getting on at Altec right now, then to get on there because I dont know anyone there either.

But really appreciate everyones help, I dont wanna regret leaving this job for one alot worse.

I've my physical and they've done the background check all last week. Told me after that they'd give me a start date but haven't heard from them yet. Any other new hires get a start date yet? I'm so ready to leave my current job.

Can't be no worse than Akebono.

oh honey, i promise it is. i left altec bc of the crap, yeah, they don't work as much ot as akebono but the CRAP you put up with is crazy. altec has skanky ho's just like akebono, everyone is screwing everyone, but at least the akebono people are real they are straight up from the beginning. if you hate akebono that bad then i wish you lots of luck just don't buy into the crap that altec gives you during your assessment classes. they sing a good song and dance until you get in there then...you find out how it truely is. Don't trust people up there. they are fake and with it being such a small company compared to akebono, those "safety nets" you are used to at akebono are nonexistent, and as far as that "seniority" that they tell you about that is nonexistent too. but best of luck to you, i hope altec is everything you dream of. just giving you a heads up.
