Just curious why you won't say who is publisher of the Carter County Gazette. (That's what we call the owner in the newspaper world). If you plan on this venture working out for you then you should be proud and state your name...shout it from the rooftops. Word of mouth is everything in Carter County. If you are hiding behind curtains, you'll never make it. Charlie and Frank both were always proud to call the Star their own. Nathan.....IDK 'bout him. He's a little different. This isn't what he went to school for if you know what I mean. Got forced into a family tradition.

I am the publisher you may say of the Gazette. I am no writer, but I take a lot of pictures and help with the overall operation of the paper, My wife Sherri does all the computer work and we have several people writing and selling for the paper. Mike Frazier also oversee's the operation and does a lot of work for both papers. We have our staff listed inside the paper... and KCB printing located on Elk Ave. will be handling our Eliz. Office. They are open from 10-5 each day and are looking to hire someone for a earlier shift work so they may open at 8am. If you have any questions you may call me anytime before midnight. thanks for your concerns

By the way I didn't go to school to be in the newspaper business either, I mostly went to eat lunch. With 18 brothers and sisters we didn't get much at home. I could write a book on just things that happen in our family. And yes I am from West Virginia, no lie

What an idiot! Trying to start a second newspaper in this market is suicide! This is the same paper as the Piney Bluff Gazzette and Washington County Gazzette and the only thing that changes from one to the other is the cover. The inside is all the same and the Green boxes on the streets are an eye sore to the community. The one at Ingles was Blue at one time and used for the Piney Bluff Gazette. The paper looks like clutter sitting on the shelves and clutter inside the boxes and it will dissapear within two years. I bet anything that C.Y. Peters has something to do with it!!

does elizabethton not need a second newspaper? you seem to know alot about the new paper, you must be working for the Star to know so much. Don't see ant difference in green boxes, blue boxes, orange boxes, nothing more eyesoring than some of these old junk cars sitting around every street corner. By the way I attended C.Y.'s funeral a couple of years ago, so I don't think he has anything to do with it.. Funny how people like to post bad things on here and will not use there real name!

The great thing about this country is that we all have the same chance to succeed. Who knows this may turn out to be something we need, we do not have a local Satruday paper. They saw that need and filled it. If people don't like it I guess it will take care of itself. Whats one more box at the Ingles, the rusty Star boxes look a lot worse. The more information put out in our city the better. I saw a lot Elizabethton stuff in the last one. Competition is good for things and it's the American Way.Good luck to the Gazzette and good luck to the Star, they both are worth $.50.

The box outside the mexican restaurant in E-town doesn't work and took my money. The number on the outside of the box is a non-working number. Never again will I even attempt to purchase this paper.

My son plays elementary school ball and there was an issue of the Carter County Gazette that I paid $3 for at the jamboree and it was horrible...The pictures were terrible...Most of them you could not see the faces....BIG JOKE AND WASTE OF MONEY

I know in Piney Flats its well liked. The JC Press and Hearld Courior does not carry any information on Sullivan East's sports. On ocassions they will post a score.

It was pretty good this week good stories on the football games. Information on people running for office, looks like it's getting better. They were giving them away down town at the Car Show. You don't sget a Star on Satruday and the Mountain City Paper only runs one day a week. Why would any one get on here and complain about losing money in a paper box? Why did you not just email them at the address above in the first post? [email protected]
I am sure they would get you a paper of give you back your $.50.
Unless you are from the star.

what does it tell you about it that they have to give them away at the car show to get people to read it?

Giving papers away is just a good way to let everyone know about their business. Same thing as coupons or any type of buy on get one.To me its a decent paper has some intresting articles however it does have lots of ads. The paper could be a couple pages more so the ads are not so much cludered. However in Piney and Bluff City the gazette is well recieved. The one thing that many like about it is the elementary schools gets a lot of sports coverage were they don't in the other schools.

I think it's a good newspaper, full of LOCAL happenings, instead of Big news "off from here".
And another plus factor is: You can read it!
Some area news print is so small. I like to read Aunt Bertha's House, and the other Local things. Don't judge too fast. It just got started.

So according to your last sentence, you think Mr. Robinson is behind publishing this new paper? Looks like that is what you are trying to say. Or was it worded wrong---confused
