for years i had my nails done at Q nails in elizabethton but a few weeks ago it was full of patrons and i was going to have to wait. So i decided to go over and try VN nails in front of pals. I love it, I had no idea what getting your nails was like until i walked out of there with the best looking nails of my life. The prices are the same but you get true pampering, i had never had my cuticles pushed back or a hand massage until i went to VN nails, just wanted to let the customers of elizabethton to give them a try you won't be disappointed. These ladies are wonderful.

I know someone that goes there and loves it as well. Take their time instead of push you thru.

It's about time Q Nails had someone to compete with. I quit getting my nails done in Elizabethton years ago, because of the poor quality of work done at Q-nails. I go to US Nails in Johnson City, and absolutely LOVE them! However, I must say, I have heard from others that have been to VN Nails that they are VERY clean, and do good, quality work-- which speaks volumes, since Q Nails is filthy. Honestly, as someone who holds a manicurist license, I have no idea why the state board hasn't shut them down?

At Q nails your in and out in 20 minutes getting a full set. never had my cuticles worked on never had a hand massage VN nails is amazing, i won't go anywhere else ever. To all you ladies who have been loyal patrons of Q nails just try VN nails 1 time what do you have to loose? your nails will look amazing for the same amount of money.

I will never go to Q Nails again...they used a dirty tool when I was getting a pedicure and I got an infection under my nail. It took over 6 months of pain, antibiotics, and an in-office "procedure" to clear it up.

Sounds like I should check out VN nails though!

Is the price the same both places? I have also been going to Q Nails and have not been satisfied. Not only is the work substandard, but they are not friendly. The last time I was there, I was treated like I was bothering them. I felt uncomfortable. I will try VN Nails next time.

Skip going to the asian places. Most of them are unsanitary. Every one I have been to-I have picked up a nail fungus underneath the acrylic because they don't use clean instruments. Your best bet is Jessica at Studio 516. She is excellent.

I am new to the area. Where is Studio 516? How is she with hair? Does she keep up with the latest styles? How about prices?

Thanks!

I agree with Patti. I have been getting acrylic nails for longer than I care to mention and have NEVER gotten nail fungus until I went to VN Nails. The ladies were very nice and the place is new and looked clean, but apparently the instruments are not kept clean. I've also been to Q nails, once, and chose to never go back. I found the man who did my nails to be rude and he over drilled which hurt and left big ridges in my nails which took a long time to grow out. When I stopped him and told him that he was hurting my fingers with the drill, he just looked at me like I was being ridiculous.
I've been to Kim who was at Tangles and she was great, stopped going for a while for personal reasons and last time I checked she was no longer there and don't know where she went.
I now go to Jessica at Studio 516 and no longer get acrylics because she is the only one in the area that I have found that can do OPI's gel which is awesome! No drills, healthy nails that are my own, look great and don't break or chip. Love it! The only down side is there is only one Jessica and she is very busy, so it may be difficult to get in quickly, but if you get the gel, it is worth the wait.

There are some other good places to go that are not in Elizabethton, but both VN Nails and Q Nails are out for me...just my $.02

If you find that a nail place, like Q nails, is filthy, then you can take action. A nail salon SHOULD NOT endanger their clients through a lack of sanitary action. Salon sanitation is stringent and for a good reason, people can very easily develop dangerous molds and icky bacteria in a setting that's less the clean.

Report it to the state board, tell them what you've seen.

The fact is that unless you call and complain about a place to them, they'll never know. This is a small town.

Trust me, I've reported them to the state board-- the problem is, the state board won't make "special" trips to only one salon. They come to the area and hit multiple salons-- so they have friends from neighboring salons who call and notify them when the state board is near. It gives them enough time to "clean" things enough to get a "passing" (and I use that term loosely) grade by the state board to stay open. It's sad. They never *really* get to see how things are run in that salon.

the week after that, i went to VN nails and they CUT my nails, did a terrible job for gel nails, and they made my hand bleed three times. each time, they put polish remover on it! and they chipped that day.
VERY UNHAPPY. and my prom was the next day! and i had short, chipped, nails for prom... and it cost me 25 bucks...

so i went to Genesis nail salon yesterday, and the did AMAZING!!! i now have long, batman nails...... Gina did amazing. they were so sweet, speak English, and its cheap! angel love all the way(:

I disagree that M & M Nails is clean. I only went once, and did not go back as it was NOT clean! I went to their bathroom, and it was so bad I chose not to use the facilities. The place that is REALLY clean is Mamie's Place (Angie Cook). M & M in no way compares to Angie, in the pedicure department.
