We have the worse commissioners in the world. Raise our land taxes to give to the employees for Christmas. What about the people on fixed income that has to make choices each month whether to buy food or medicine, then get their land taxes raised. We have enough to pay with that new JAIL that we really didn't need. I think we have a bunch of BOZO's that couldn't manage a circus. Next election get rid of the sorry bunch.

Our Leon "want to be" Lion has caused nothing but distress on this entire commission and county.
We've wasted 114,000 this year on his wasteful a**, and to blame the commission for the counties problems...sorry I blame the mayor himself!!!

Doesn't take much thought to see that blame can be laid at both sides of the fence's feet.

Hello... it's not the mayor's fault he can't get anything done. Look, I've lived in Carter County for two years now and I'm sick of the "good old boy" if you aren't from here you can't say anything attitude. Squelching the citizens and not allowing us to vote to downsize the commission is nothing short of greed by the majority of the commissioners. I'm in district 7 and Scott Sams seems to be doing a great job. Apparently Von Cannon, Brown, Trivett, Lewis, Sams are the only ones that don't have a hidden agenda. If anyone on here is with Carter County Citizens in Action please create a facebook page so I can support and follow.

FYI, most was after the fact concerning the jail.
Seriously, don't be ignorant, nobody raised taxes to give county employees a Christmas bonus..lol! They saved 46,000 concerning insurance, so why not give those employee's a little extra for Christmas....grinch.
So please know what your speaking of before making a false statement. 46,000 in extra revenue saved at the end of the fiscal year, causes taxes to go up....really now.

Not just planned, it was done incorrectly.

When Von Cannon stood to speak the response was actually wait, sit down Mr. Von Cannon, just wait. Mr. Von Cannon rose to speak when someone had already started speaking. That was never mentioned or recognized for some reason.

I understand the statement trying to be made by doing this, as honorable as it could be, they took their voters voice out of the picture when the left the floor. When that is done, they give up the right to vote and their right to debate is gone.

They were asked to return and refused, giving up their votes on the financial matters at hand.

100% agree! That doesn't make a statement, it makes them look....really dumb.
They took themselves off the debate table, plus gave their vote away, that's not the practice of a elective official.
Things will get tough, and people will not agree on everything, that's the way politics go. Never, do you give up your voice!!
You can't make a statement in politics by sitting among the citizens in the front row.
Come on, this was planned, no doubt in my mind! This childish stunt gained no progress... only disruption.
Personally, I don't think they should be paid for the meeting.
They took themselves off the table and sit with the public, therefor their expected duties were not accomplished.
Do I get to sit outside my company meetings, just to make a statement, then expect to get paid for that hour....hell no.

Thank you for saving me the trouble,Ē said Bowers of Von Cannonís decision to leave his desk.
Sounds like to me that Vogi is not a
leader and should not be over those meetings if he had that already in his mind to throw out Mr Von Cannon.

Really? It's procedure. If a member of the public or commission interrupts a speaker and will not yield the floor, they get removed. If anything he wrongly assumed Mr. Von Cannon wasn't going to yield and was acting too quickly.

Rash judgments isn't a reason to remove anyone, if that were the case this forum would never be used lol.

WTH, can you not understand about the money! This was a issue of insurance funds that was saved on behave of the county employees taking a certain insurance. This money was invested fiscally for the year, so this doesn't threaten jobs, if anything the money flows directly back into the county.
If that bonus at Christmas cuts jobs, then fire was under asses to begin with for the upcoming year.
The mayor can fund 15,000 for a friend to "look at land" in Carter County for development, but 47,000 can't be delivered to people at Christmas to lighten the load.
Call me stupid, but until you realize a fiscal year budget, don't debate with me...lol

What a bunch of disgraceful, idiotic babies with their little egos and powerplays! Its no wonder the US Congress cant get along to fix the country's problems when these pissant commissioners in this one-horse town cant even get along to discuss the minor issues that affect residents. Its childish and reminds me of those morons in Bluff City who have become the laughing stock of the region.

our commission has the same problem as Congress: everyone wants to clean house "except for my commissioners, they're doing a fine job." last time i remember an incumbent losing it was johnny lewis, who is one of the better ones; and he got right back on there the next cycle.

You all are so wrap up about what is going o in this county that you can't even take the time to talk about the real problem in our country!

Those assholes in Washington!

They are the problem and that problem runs down hill all the way to Carter County!

Could the commissioners do a better job that what they are doing?

You can bet your ass they could if they did have all those rules restricting what they can and cannot do sent to us from that cesspool called Washington DC!

Before you put all the blame on the commissioners, be sure you cover all the people causing problems!

Prime example of what kind of assholes we have in Washington DC, Joe Bidden is traveling through the Middle East telling everyone that the Taliban arenít so bad!

This guy really believes the shit that he is spewing out mouth of his!

With the crap that is going on in Washington, it kindda makes our problems here at home pale in comparison!

You have got to keep an eye on the commissioners at all times, but donít ever forget about those assholes in Washington DC!

What does these shitstain do-nothings on the county commission acting like babies have anything at all to do with the federal gov't? Time to put the blame where it lies...they act like children and dont deserve to be in elected office to commit nothing but self-serving acts. If they cant behave themselves and work together they NEED TO GO!
