We are considering getting our Aunt out of NHC and taking her to Hermitage. Please, if you have any pros or cons? Surely to god, they are better sun NHC in Johnson City

What does the Hose part in the title of your thread mean??? Is that a typo?? I don't get it.

But to answer your question, If you are talking about Hermitage in Elizabethton, it is a very nice place. I have had relatives there, and they were treated very well and it is clean and well maintained.

All of the nursing homes have issues here and there and all seem to be a little understaffed, but Hermitage is one of the better ones in this area.

I worked at Hermitage for many years. Had worked at other nursing homes before. And It was privately owned then. But was a great place. The owner sold it, and it went corporate. I cant give an opinion on it now much. But they have state surveys that rate each nursing home idividually. I would check into that and see how they scored and see what faults the state made. Checking out their last state inspection, they only recieved 3 out of a possible 36 deficiencies. That is good. Here is a link maybe it will help you get some answers and it is a public record you can find online.

No look else where the Don and Adon are to busy partying, check out tri cities.com if you don't believe me. They both are rude and arrogant to staff. The adminstrator could care less. The nursing staff are to worried about partying and flirting with each other. They won't fire anyone cause its all best friends or family. Have always admired this facility but it has seriously went down hill since the new nursing hires and promotions. Look into Hillview it is located above Hermitage. Always look at state survey and current census. If a facilities census is down then the care is also. Hillview has updated facilities and very caring staff members. Honestly Hermitage needs a good old fashioned house cleaning done. Doubt it will happen but it is sad to see such a legacy join the lower tier nursing homes. My grandmother loves Hillview.

I believe hermitage is one of the nicer nursing homes around this area each nursin homes have faults and what employees do outside of work is their own business how they spend their free time is their own decision and does not reflect their work ethics or abilities i personally kno the ADON and Rude and arrogant are not 2 words I would use to describe her she has been through a lot the last year and had been on the other side of the fence having a family member in a rehab facility she has empathy for the res and family members bc she has been in their shoes!

Perhaps Hermitage's census can reflect their outstanding nursing and therapy departments.... i.e. they do provide elite quality care and rehabilitaion to actually send people back out into the community. Hermitage is not only a long term care facility, but ALSO a skilled nursing facility that does specialize in rehabilitation.

Hermitage is an amazing nursing facility ESPECIALLY compared to most in the area! If you go into the facility just about every resident is up an active or involved in some sort of activity they don't look a mess nor seem unhappy and family members respect the cnas nurses an get close to them because the staff is so friendly the adon has been through quite a bit in the past year definitely more than the average woman can handle but never have I observed rude behavior from her nor the don what people do outside of work is their own business an doesn't have anything to do with work ethic because I have never seen any of them perform poorly in my visits there. It's also one of the cleanest and best smelling facilities I've ever been in very well disinfected. And as far as "flirting" and what not.. Most cnas/nurses are women if a man tends to join the crew after working with women all day I don't think it's flirting but more of nice to have the a person of the different sex around for once not as much estrogen!!! So everyone please check your facts it's an awesome place for your family and a great place to work. Rant over thank you.

If I'm not mistaken the last time I checked grown ups can do as they choose to. They didn't need permission to go out!!! The care that is given is excellent and professional. The DON is smart enough to be a doctor and the ADON can work circles around half the people in the building. They both work with staff making sure that if they need time off for family or for emergencies that its not counted against them. And you also won't find an administrator that works so close with the floor staff as this one does. She is a great person inside and out. Hermitage is a family not just by blood but a working family yeah we have our ups and downs, lots of downs this past year with our own personal families as well as losing families, but we've stuck together. So sorry that whoever you are you feel a grudge against us and yes I mean us because you put down one of us its against all of us, also how do you know so much about hermitage and its staff???just wondering since your grandmother is at hillview!!!

Both Hillview and Hermitage are very nice facilities. Both clean and smell nice. The staff are very nice. Even the residents will tell you they are the best facilities around.

The facility is awsome..their staff is always helping and doing a great job...The place is very nice and secure too... My granny absolutly loved being there... Her body had failed her but her mind was always good and she loved all her drs and nurses there... It really is one of the best long care facilities i have seen...

This is the only comment in this feed that is true. I wish I would have read this before my mom went there. Thank God I visited daily and she didn't have to stay long.

My MIL was in Pine Ridge for 4 years. She got very good treatment there, good food, very clean, and the staff was caring. She had been in Life Care, at one point, and the difference between the two was like night, and day.I can't comment on the nursing homes on the hill as I don't know anyone who has been there.

Hillview has to be one of the worse nursing homes I have ever seen. I would not send a dog there let alone a family member.

Ever looking for a cna at Hillview the only place you probably find them is smoking, or at the nurses station texting on their phones.

Grace Healthcare owns both Hermitage and Hillview. Grace is presently under investigation for a patients death. Their reputation is horrible. Try Ivy Hall.

It's disgusting that things that go on up there on top of that hill, and it's all just swept into the cracks and forgotten.
