Has anyone read anything about this in the Elizabethton Star???????? www.timesfreepress.com/news/2009/mar/02/audit... ?
I found this in the Chattanoga Times. Where is local reporters on this? What the heck? Who's been conducting audits for TVA since 2001?

No wonder our electric bills have gone up! I read this link. Thanks
"Tennessee Valley Authority employees used government credit cards to buy alcohol, video games and software that removes evidence of pornography use, according to a new audit of purchasing card expenses."

Article in yesterday's Star about it. What's odd is that the discrepancies were found & reported on but not a word about whether there'd be any repercussions.

I don't think customers of the TVA realize how Big this story is. Does anyone wonder why our electric bill are double in 1 month? The board members who control TVA were put in power in 2001. We will most likely never know how much money these theves stole from us in the past 8 years. TVA was not designed to be for profit. These people stole money from the taxpayers who paid to build the power company. I don't hear any one talking about it. This story should be on the front page every.

If the company that you work for hands you a free credit card which you can use however you choose with no strings attached (& no book-balancing either, evidently); what would you do?
The employees will take the brunt of this--just you watch & TVA will come out of it smelling like a Kingston rose.

No one that I've talked to has heard about this either & it was in all the local papers.

I am horrified by this. What can we do? Does anyone know how we can organize to keep the heat on this thing? This is one of the reasons for our economy going off a cliff. People at the top of these companies robbing us blind. One word for this. GREED!

Did you say Edens is a jerk? I agree 100%. We need to organize to get rid of him. We need to stop the "good ole boy" system in Elizabethton and elect/appoint people who truly care for the people.

Dissing on our local bunch won't do any good because they're not the ones who raised the rates. Taking on TVA would require a corporate lawyer & a petition & since we're being bled dry by our own utilities, they've got us over the proverbial barrel. Our best recourse is one that nobody really wants to have to do--use less electricity.

While I'm thinking about this, did you know that by leaving a cell phone charger plugged into the outlet you're using about $10.00 worth of juice per year? It might seem small, but anything that you leave plugged up that isn't used much is still using electricity. It adds up.

Good for you! After I read about "juice bleed", I unplugged the toaster, microwave & all the lamps that I don't use much. Even leaving the computer on when it's not in use bleeds more than you'd think. Everything that's plugged in is using a very small amount to be sure, but it's still using it.

Why don't we get the ball rolling and push it up to the state gov. or do you all think that a waste of our time?
