Wondering if anyone else sees him across the street from Walmart. I was feeling bad for him, he takes up money trying to help his family. Then one day I drove by and he was talking on a cell phone! Several times I've went by and he is smoking. Your family is hungry and in need but you have a cell phone and cigarettes?
Yep Ive seen him

I see him all the time, is it the same one that stands by the stop sign across the walmart parking lot going to Lowe's? The one I saw has a dog... he probably has his nice car hidden somewhere in the Walmart parking lot...lol I saw a special about panhandlers on 20/20 once it was very disturbing. Some of them in larger cities make in one day what we could working 40 hours! Pissed me off....

I never give money to these people. Sign says "hungry". Well there are so many community resources, walk on down there and ask for help.

The ones I see the most are at the corner of I-26 and 67 Elizabethton exit, you know... right there by the "ONE STOP" and "PARKWAY DISCOUNT LIQUORS"... That seems to be a popular corner for them, gee I wonder why???? Must be the Arby's!

Don't be quick to judge. I did that once here in Elizabethton. Saw a guy doing the same thing, sign and all. I was "Yea right". I thought he'd show his colors when I gave him food instead of money.

So I pulled up, handed him a bag of groceries....then he cried so hard he couldn't hardly get words to come. He was broken. Truly broken. I went back an hour later with more groceries because I didn't do enough. I never saw him again. Never forgot him.

As far as go down and hit the "community resources" comment...you're part of the community, if you have the resource, then help. "These people"....what a pathetic statement.

I have always been curious of this.....if someone is really living on the streets where do they get the markers to write up those signs?

you know people should not judge others.if you not walked a mile in their shoes.yes, sometimes it's a sham but other times not.just think that it could be you one day, does it not say in the bible that it may be JESUS that you may or may not be helping.

The bible says help thy neighbor in need if you have it your suppose to give it and it isn't any of my business what they do with the money if it isn't for what they are asking it for god will punish them. I would hate to know it was god and on judgement day he refuses me into heaven over a dollar or so.

Yep and as long as it makes you feel better by doing it it's worth the money anyway so who cares what they do with it.

Here we go. Someone always has to mention that stupid book. Why do you think that nonsense is real and more importantly why do you think others care about how it reads? This fake crap always comes up when the weak minded wanna condemn someone.

This is a tough situation. I can feel ya, brother.(or sister...sorry!) That kind of stuff frustrates me, also. I wish there was a fool-proof way of determining someone's level of "need".

Just remember, if it's in your heart to give, give freely...as it's written in Matthew 25:40 "...'truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.

God understands what's in your heart when you give. Personally, I'd try not to let this situation burn in you too long. There are many people with a genuine need for assistance.

I dont judge. I give and if they do not use it as they stated they need it, they are the one to answer for it. You never know when someone is hungry or thirsty and have nothing. This day and time anyone of us could end up losing everything we have and be in the same situation. Never say never, and wouldnt you want someone to give you even a couple of dollars if you have not eaten in days.
