I know a lot of locals made fun of these people, but you have to give them credit for cleaning up the forest area... It's a lot better than our own locals do.. Just take a walk on one of our local trails and look around at the cans and trash thrown down and left. People around here live in one of the most beautiful, scenic places in the world and most do not appreciate nor respect it. Most of you going on and ranting about them have been put to shame..How many of you are litter bugs?? Or at least how many of you will admit it??? And you let a bunch of hippies make us all look bad!! Shame on East Tennessee residents for not keeping our forests and recreational areas clean!!!!!

The area IS being cleaned up, primarily by local volunteers, county and city workers, as well as some forestry workers.....not by the vandals who trashed it and left. Their presence there is still very obvious and will be for a long time, even after the trash, drug and sex paraphenalia are picked up.

Sorry, I was just going by the news article that appeared on tri-cities.com this morning. http://www2.tricities.com/news/2012/jul/31/ra... the article didn't really portray it that way, but I know things aren't always what they seem.

Resident is just making things up. I'm in the woods around there all the time and the Rainbow Gathering people left the place looking better than when they got there. Shame on Resident for lying to further some agenda.

There were a few that stayed behind and helped, but 90% of the clean up was done by locals. They did cover up their poop trench, but a lot of the gathering didn't use it anyway. Ten feet off the main trails there were large amounts of human waste. Some areas of the camp were maintained nicely, and I will give those people credit, but overrall it was just a huge mess and a tremendous burden on those of us that live here. Even as late as this past weekend, the area still smells quite badly.
