Why is it that so many women in this area either lose custody of their children or have them taken away? It seems much more prevalent here than in other areas.

Maybe because so many mothers are only interested in the men in their lives and their own agenda with no concern for their children. When a person has a child that child's needs should come before anything. It was a choice the mother made. So live up to the responsibility. If the man in your life doesn't also see the child as the number one priority then he needs to be out of your life. Also the child should not be there so the parent can get a check. It is your responsibility to support the children to whom you decide to give birth. Not the welfare system. Make your own decisions, it is the American way, but also take the responsibility for them.

Or maybe it is because DCS often targets poor, rural families like the many in this area.

If you are doing a good job it doesn't matter if you are targeted.

Youre wrong. Do some research. You would be outraged at the number of loving homes who lose their children to DCS. The corruption is mind-blowing.

Drugs are horrible in this county and surrounding counties....plus take a walk through Wal Mart and see how people talk to and treat their kids...so imagine how they treat them at home. Poor kids don't stand a chance with some families.

Like DCS doesn't have enough to worry about without targeting "poor, rural families" around here? If you lose your child to DCS, it's nobody's fault but your own.

Well, that's easy enough to think until somebody wants to get back at you for something. How's your ex feel about you these days? Maybe in a custody battle? Have you pissed anyone off lately? Be careful, lady. People who feel they are too smart to be fooled are the easiest targets.

Ive never lost my children, by the way. Let's not be stupid? You have access to the internet. Do some research. Did you know they get kick backs for putting foster children up for adoption? Yep. They have plenty of motive to remove children and place them for adoption. And the judges just sign off on it.

You might think people who lose their kids deserve it, and you may sit there with that snide attitude.... until you have become a target yourself. Then Youll be on here screaming about parental rights. Lol, I can see it now.

You must do something to loose custody of your children. DCS isn't going to take your children because your poor. A mother most really do damage when DCS steps in and takes action.
I'm not sure who your trying to protect or what rose colored glasses your wearing.....really that sad.
We live in a area full of people that struggle to feed and raise their children. Although, most mothers take the hardship and still stride, still trying to do right by they're children.
If DCS targeted every poor family in CC....very few children would be with they're mothers.
DRUGS, that's the problem! Woman putting sex and dope over the welfare of the children they created! Either they don't want the child, or their doped up to the point of no return.

Foster care is not allways the answer . I know of one case the kids take daily cussing and are work hard and treated very badley .The children are now getting to the age that their not afraid to talk .I think once DCS gets the children in a home thats all they want . Its a money thing .Sad

If society really cared about kids, then anybody, male or female, who abuses a child or is convicted of a felony should be sterilized immediately. It is ridiculous how the religious right is so anti-abortion because they "care" about the kids. Seems like the Catholic priest particularly "care" about the young boys. Having a child should be a privilege, not a right.

Oh my goodness, you are truly uninformed. I know for a fact that DCS focuses on keeping families together- foster care is the last choice. And if the kids are placed in foster care, they give parents up to a year to get their crap together before they allow children to be adopted. Really, if someone took my children away and told me that I had to jump through certain hoops to get them back, I'm confident to say that it wouldn't take a year. If a parent does not do everything that they can to get their children back, then yes, it is their fault!!
