If you would notice that the #'s do not match up with the post etc. There are some posts that are being removed for one reason or another~so this site is being monitered. I know that if you are affliated with a school system you can have the information soooo with that being said the name calling and ignorance NEEDS TO STOP! I am in support of Mr Mitchell and ALL that have went before him...I have expired my reasoning for Mr Ed and what he does! IT's PLAIN AND SIMPLE his REASONING is a PERSONAL/VENDATIVE ONE and it is SAD! I do FEEL sorry for this man...as if he was not on calming meds HE WOULDVE for SURE BLEW UP AS I HAVE WITNESSED MYSELF-that my friend is something you would see if you had attented ANY board meetings! ANY ONE THAT IS IN CHARGE OF ANYTHING AND MAKES THE ONES UNDER HIM FEAR HIM ENOUGH TO NOT BE ABLE TO EXPRESS THEIR CONCERNS OUT OF FEAR OF LOSING THEIR JOBS IS NON OTHER BUT A DICTATOR! So CALL it what YOU WANT...but it's been done OVER AND OVER!

Wasn't it confirmed that more than half of our students are from low income families at WSE? Mr Alexander's comment that kids from wealthy, two parent homes give WSE good test scores was way off base. Kids from single parent and low income homes also have good grades! I grew up poor and I have a Masters degree MR Ed! Quit picking on low income people and blaming them for low test scores and quit pitting the schools against each other and asking principals to hang each other publicly. Wen will this madness end???
It takes a complete IDOT to make a statement like this and if he did say it his A** should hit the street so fast it makes his head swim.....I know kids that have been raised by single parents that has been on the dean's list for the last 3 years at ETSU....I would love for him to stand in my face and tell me this...

YES HE DID SAY THIS-That is when I spoke first and CALLED him out on it and said if he felt that way IT WAS HIS TIME TO GO! He tried to DENY it BUT THE PEOPLE that was sitting there HEARD IT AS WELL, and Mr. Ed didn't know what to say!

The other times that I spoke was after the parent said she was thinking about a lawsuit Because her son was placed in a different room by himself for LOUDLY HACKING AND COUGHING to the point that he was wetting himself...I simply brung up that WS DOES deal with allegeries etc to the point that NO ONE could bring peanut butter to the school due to ONE child...when I asked her if she was at church or a quite event what would SHE do...she said that she would let her child LEARN about the Lord! I just LOOKED at her and was like what about EVERYONE else that would be there to listen as to what was being said and they couldn't hear but you expect a teacher to teach in that condition???

ALSO I commended the teachers that came out BECAUSE NOW THEIR JOBS MIGHT BE IN JEOPERDY BECAUSE THEY ARE STANDING FOR WHAT THEY BELIEVE! To have a school that 22 out of 23 teachers AGREE to KEEP their Principal SAYS IT ALL...and the one was absent!
AND YES THIS IS A SYSTEM WIDE PROBLEM AS IT COULD BE YOUR TEACHER/PRINCIPAL NEXT!!!

The answer to your comment 'for some reason he (Mr. Alexander) thinks someone else could do a better job', is that once again, as in so many other times, Mr. Alexander has already hand-picked someone to take Mr. Mitchell's place.

Mr. Wandell and Mr. Little have BOTH had affairs with either a student (Mr. Little) or a staff member (Mr. Wandell), so WHY are they still in their positions if THIS is the criteria we use to evaluate a Principal???

You are wrong about Roper. Firing Alexander was not a condition of his employment. If you would have taken the time to actually speak to Roper and or get to know him you would have found that he had no such intention when he first arrived here. Tammy Ward mentally gets you nowhere.
I know what some of the questions Dr. Roper was akasked in his interviews (from School Board members directly),so I am, as they say,'not making this up.' He was asked if he was willing to make 'a difficult and unpopular decision'. During his interviews he was not told what that meant specifically. It was only AFTER he was hired that he found out the #1 decision he was to carry out for the majority of the Board at the time, was to fire Mr. Alexander.

You don't need to go through all of that again...Just put LOTS of pressure on the new Board members--Mr. Isaacs and Mr. May and let them know you want them to do the RIGHT thing!

I have a question after hearing about all these affairs...is there a policy in ECS regarding relationships between teachers and administrators...especially married administrators and married teachers? If so, Mr. Alexander has covered these in several situations by moving the teachers. I know T Long was moved from east side when she and mr wandell were discovered and also same situation with mr Mitchell...this says to me that Mr Alexander is not dealing with a current moral or ethical situation with mr Mitchell because if that was the case then he and wandell would have already been dealt with. That leads me to believe this IS a personal issue for Mr Alexander since there have not been past write ups on file regarding his email list of reasons.
Side note: Mr Mitchell worked things out with his wife...I believe in learning from your mistakes and redemption. I hope he learned his lesson. Can't say the same for mr wandell and the new mrs wandell.

To Mr. Alexander's daughter, I would probably defend my father too, but you have to realize that you see him in a different light than the rest of these people. You look up to him because he's your father, but everyone else sees the man who chooses favorites, who shows no consistency in his decisions, who takes revenge on others, who the teachers fear because of his history of firing employees and replacing them with his friends, who is so arrogant and rude people cannot stand him. He's your dad and I'm sure he's a good father to you, but to those who work for him, he's a complete jerk. He rules with fear and he plays dirty. Because you are close to him personally, you have no concept of what type of man he is to work with/for.
As for Mr. Mitchell, he and his wife were having trouble, he had an affair with a coworker who he was attending school with (getting a MS degree). She is known to have done this type thing before and she targeted him when he was at a vulnerable point. He fell for it. Both are at fault, but in the end, he made things right with his wife and they are happy together. Mr. Wandell didn't return home..he married the teacher he had an affair with ..yet he continues to keep his job and is still a favorite of Ed. So, tell me, how does the affair play into this scenario? It is an excuse for Ed to use when he has no other plausible reasons for firing Mr. Mitchell.
I am so tired of the judgement from everyone about his personal life. He is good to the kids, he made things right after he made mistakes, he does a good job and he is NOT Ed's "yes man".......I think Ed had no idea what he was up against or he would've never started this mess. I believe he will live to regret starting this fight. The parents are tired, the teachers are tired, the whole community is tired of his bullying and I think he's about to meet his Waterloo.

Is it a fact that Mr Little had an inappropriate relationship with a student? When? Was the student of legal age? Under who's supervision-- Alexander's? Was there any action taken? This is a serious accusation that warrants community concern in my opinion.

I try not to read all this foolishness, because I know it's the same people over and over again. The same people who have hated my father for years and years because he didn't go along with THEIR agenda. All the Bob Sams of Elizabethton who decided a long time ago that they are threatened by someone as ethical as my father. I suppose because it makes them feel bad about themselves. But I'll say this, my father never does anything that he does not think is right. It will come out- as it always does. And I'm sure next week the same people will be back on here calling him Hilter and saying he has " little man syndrome" and whatever else. He would never call you names, which still makes him better than you. i have watched for 30 years as he has tried to make Elizabethton City Schools a better system. I can only hope to be as fine a person as my father is. Even after reading all the horrible things, all i can feel is how proud I am to be his daughter...and a little sad because I know how hard he has worked.. So , with that being said, I hope your children are not reading the hateful things you are writing. You would not want them to end up as unhappy as you are:)
I'll give you credit Lauren, you have a strong resolve to support your father. Evidently, you were not present Thursday when he insulted the parents of low income children, single parent mothers, and more importantly lied in front of gym full of citizens. School board members were given a copy of the actual request that Mr. Ed told the audience that he had requested but had yet been given. Now in the part of Carter county I was raised that was called lying and lying, cheating, and stealing were taught to be wrong. Maybe not in your house?

One last thing Lauren, let's call your sister and get permission to come visit like Mr Ed does when he goes for a visit. Yes, even your family friends know the truth because they have no respect for him.

Wow that's classy! Your mother would have been really proud of what just did there. Please don't feel the need to respond as I am no longer getting on here- to hear the ridiculous rants of the 10 people in Elizabethton who don't like Dad. I should have never gotten on here in the first place. At my house, we will continue to pray for the unfortuate people who feel they have to put down others in order to feel better about themselves. That's what I was taught (along with "doing the right thing" even when it may not be the favorable thing to do) and that is what I will be teaching my daughter. I truly hope you can find peace in this life or the next.

Facts you are on to something. This really is not just a West Side issue it is a system wide issue. Would this be news anywhere but Betsy? No because JCity, Kpt, nor Bristol is being run by a twice removed former principal that has strength through old family ties. If we parents don't stand up, speak out, and demand a change for the positive then it only keeps going. Is this what we really want in 5 more years? The impact of our influence now will pay dividends for our children in the near future.
Not true about JCS.... The BIG diff is if they had an issue like this it would be solved in a way different manor. As for "JCity, Kpt, nor Bristol is being run by a twice removed former principal that has strength through old family ties." JCIty's superintendents that is simply not true.... I agree that all schools has issues and with your comment about the impact of the future of the children. But if you don't know JCity schools then don't make assumptions.

The lead story on the front page of Sunday's Elizabethton STAR features two quotes by two School Board Members.Rita Booher:'His (Mr. Alexander's) reasons are legitimate but he did not get a chance to tell what they were.' Mrs. Armstrong:'I can find no justification for the recommendation in the email that was sent (to Board members).'This makes it VERY clear that if people want a positive change, they need to persuade the two new members, Phil Isaacs and Grover May.The Board does not have the authority to hire and fire personnel, but they DO have the authority to hire and fire the Superintendent. Mrs. Booher must have been at a different meeting than I was because she said Mr.Alexander was not given the chance to explain his reasons, when the first 20 minutes were Mr. Alexander reading the entire e-mail he sent to Board members with the reasons he had for not rehiring Mr. Mitchell. I think that explained it pretty well.

It's really old news. RL was barely out of college himself at the time, the girl was 18, and I don't think TN had even outlawed sex with a student who was not a minor yet.

No RL had been out of college quite a while and had been teaching for a while too when this happened so yes it was illegal but no nothing was really done about it. He's a good teacher and all his students liked him which is probably why nothing "was done".
